Nice!

I didn’t have any money on the game at all. We have gambling through the Hard Rock casino here in Florida now, but I didn’t even get around to opening the app to see what bets were available. There’s something about the NFL embracing gambling so aggressively recently that really irritates me, and I think it wiped out any fun I had from betting on the games.

I didn't get the speed up thing but the whole app froze 4 or 5 times throughout the game and we had to completely back out and relaunch it. And agree on the Usher sound, it was terrible.

I didn't really have any stake in the game but I always enjoy the Super Bowl and due to Taylor and Travis it was the first Super Bowl my daughter has actually watched with me. People can hate all they want, anything that gets my daughter to sit down with me for 3 hours to hang out and talk football is a good thing. She even had so much fun she said she wanted to start watching regular season games. Heck, even my MOM watched the game and had fun, and I've never seen her watch an entire sports match of any kind in my life.

What a crazy game. Absolute horrific first half, then an almost classic second half/OT. I was pulling for the Chiefs for my daughter's sake, but didn't really care either way. Watching her excitement at the last minute win was fun though. About half of my friends are 49ers fans and I thought I was going to have to call a suicide intervention. God I had some upset people blowing up my text feed.

Our youngest, who doesn't watch football ever, also watched with us for a while. He was more of a 49ers fan since his mom and I were rooting for them and because all the girls at school wanted the Chiefs to win because of Taylor Swift.

I keep thinking about the KC punt that bounced off the 49ers player's back foot, causing a turnover that led to the touchdown that gave KC its first lead. So crazy that like they spend millions of hours getting ready for the Super Bowl and it all turns on bounces like that.

Starting at midnight was clutch. The timing would have worked with a 4am start, but I would have been real stressed as the day went on. Plus I was up late playing DND anyway, so it all worked out.

Shanahan needed to channel Dan Campbell in OT, and not give Mahomes yet another chance to win it with a TD after barely surviving the first time.

Especially stupid was going empty on the 3rd down. McCaffrey was the one who mostly got them there in OT, and could well have gotten the TD, if not just the 1st down with 2 good runs.

Yeah, but that wasn't really bad luck, that was a low kick and great execution by the Chiefs.

It’s always amazing to me how close players on the return team get to bouncing punts. I would think you’d want to get as far away as possible just in case of a bad bounce, but they always seem to hang around very close to the ball while the kicking team waits to down it.

That's a good point. The other thing that stands out from watching the play again is that the SF returner (McCloud III) tries to pick up the ball, which was stupid - if he'd just fallen on it, odds are that SF keeps the ball there. And it's not like he had a good chance to run with it.

I didn't know this, and neither, apparently did the 49ers:
The 49ers' Arik Armstead also admitted he wasn't aware of the new overtime rule, not knowing the other team got possession of the ball even if the team that won the coin toss -- and chose to receive -- scored a touchdown. Those were the sudden death overtime rules pre-2010.

If 49ers players were unaware of the new overtime rules, did Kyle Shanahan know? If Shanahan did know, how did he prepare for a Super Bowl that certainly had the potential to go to overtime? It was a possibility that skyrocketed after kicker Jake Moody had an extra point attempt blocked with 11:22 left in the fourth quarter, resulting in only a 3-point lead.

The 49ers decided to take the ball first in overtime, a decision made even worse since at least some of Shanahan's players did not know what the protocol was if the 49ers scored. Since both teams get possession of the ball in overtime, going first wasn't the optimum strategy.

Heh, Usher did the Vegas thing!
The 45-year-old Grammy-winning artist and his longtime girlfriend, Jennifer Goicoechea, 40, tied the knot on Feb. 11 in Las Vegas, where the singer performed at Super Bowl LVIII, PEOPLE has confirmed.

The pair exchanged vows at the Terrace Gazebo, an outdoor wedding chapel that seats 30 guests. Usher's mother Jonetta Patton was the couple's witness, according to the marriage certificate.

What are the thoughts on Kelce screaming at Reid and running into him? I won't call it a shove as I don't think that was the intention (though it looks very close). I like Kelce but his actions are unacceptable. I don't know what punishment should be handed out but I think there should be something. Even if it's a small (for Kelce) fine. At the very least he should be more apologetic than just brushing it off saying he's going to keep it between them.

I had some trouble with the Paramount+ feed. Basically lagged a few times. It was mostly during the commercials and wasn't terrible (lag of like 1 to 2 seconds maybe three or four times during the broadcast), so wasn't horrible, though still somewhat annoying.
We watched the Nickolodeon feed. No technical issues and it was lag free, but the whole game felt like a serious acid trip.

The coach laughed it off, so that's good enough for me. I feel like behavior between members of the team (including the coach) are between them, not for outside observers to judge. We don't know the relationship dynamic there. If he did that to a ref, then sure, you're now outside the boundaries of the team and should be punished accordingly.

Reid also said he apologized IIRC. Ultimately it wasn't good, but that's the Chiefs' business to manage, and if Kelce and Reid are all good then I don't see any reason for external involvement.

He said he was over the line on a podcast of the brothers. The played a snippet of it this morning. He said all the normal PR stuff. "I'm a passionate man." "I shouldn't have done it." "Reid is the only coach I want to pay for.", etc...

Most of the people calling for his head in my circle have been (unsurprisingly) people who hate the Chiefs and are upset they won.

I don't have any real opinion of him one way or the other because I don't follow football that closely. I just think that if you go inserting third party oversight into interactions between players and coaches you open yourself up to a situation in which A) coaches and/or players are fearful of how they interact and B) You essentially neuter the power of the coach to make his own decisions on how to discipline his players.

Considering some of the downright criminals in the NFL, a player getting a little over-emotional about his team being behind in the Super Bowl seems pretty damn low on the concern scale.

I want to like him and generally speaking, I don't have a very strong opinion, but I must say - the little peaks I've had at the person underneath it all - I'm not terribly impressed either.

He's also a sloppy drunk.
Look, all anyone should need to know about this is that Tom Brady defended his outburst.
To Reid, yeah - I'm not even talking about that.
No question, the Eagles have the better Kelce! :D

Hold your horses! No. 62 hasn't made a decision yet, and at least his brother thinks he's got some more football in him.

But, if I were betting, I'd put money on retirement. He's had a great career and is probably a first ballot HoF candidate. The Eagles are in some disarray right now with a coaching staff revamp and Sirianni being shoved into more of a HC/CEO role. With two new coordinators (Fangio and Moore), who knows what kind of product the Eagles are going to put on the field next year? It's not a rebuild by any means, but it's also far from a sure thing that this team is ready to compete for another Super Bowl. I don't think Kelce is coming back with all that uncertainty.

Every year, there are dozens of little moments like this that go into winning a SB. You have to be good enough to take advantage, but so many games turn on random events like this.

It’s why the greatest football team I have ever seen couldn’t win a SB. In the end, the refs swallowed their whistles and Eli escaped like 8 would be pass rushers, and threw a pass that was randomly caught on a dude’s helmet.

I’ve been sitting here for almost a week now hearing about OMG Mahomes is the greatest ever. Meanwhile, I watched him QB his team to 12 pts, 5 punts and 2 turnovers (outside of the random ball bouncing off an ankle that gifted them a 1 play TD).

I hate the immediate overreaction, that the last thing we watched has to have been the greatest thing ever.

But the 85 Bears did win the Super Bowl. There's a shuffle that proves beyond any doubt they were the best. Mahommes could be the greatest ever. He's certainly outstanding when it comes down to the wire.

The greatest team I have ever seen was the 2007 Patriots. :)

This is how you sounded after the first few SB wins Brady had.

Only in as much as this SB was only possible because of (and was won by) the KC defense. And it annoys the crap out of me when people ignore that in favor of over the top fawning over a QB who had a mediocre game.

Edit: Let me phrase this a different way. If you thought Mahomes was the greatest QB ever before this game, this game didn't change your mind. If you didn't think that he was the greatest QB before this game, there is nothing about this game that should have changed your mind.

RE: Brady. The problem with Brady was that he was unremarkable as a QB until 2007. Over his first 6 years as a starter he averaged <3600 yards per season passing, Less than 25 TDs, and about 12 INTs. That is just unremarkable production no matter how you slice it. Yes he had won 3 SBs, but there was a pretty big assist from one of the best defenses in the league. Claiming he was Montana because he won 3 SBs was stupid. He would ultimately surpass Montana - because of everything that happened from 2007 on.

Mahomes is already the most productive QB I have ever laid eyes on. But I know a mediocre performance that got bailed out by one of the all-time playoff runs by a DC that I can remember when I see it.
