There will be sporadic incidents by isolated individuals. I don't think it's likely you'll have some organized, massive block of MAGA extremists powerful enough to somehow change the outcome of the election if they're not happy with the result. Especially not against a government at the highest levels of security awareness.

I want to believe. Let's check back in after the election to see how the voting actually went.
I hope that it still has relevance because it’s close to election day. If it was a few months ago the electorate would probably go on to the next shiny thing.
A lot can happen in a week. Plus, who knows how it also galvanized the racists and not-really-undecideds.

The Trump economic plan will be a disaster. Elon Musk just said that he expects a cabinet position as “Chief Efficiency Officer” and labs to cut $2 trillion from a federal budget that has $1.7 trillion in discretionary spending. He basically plans to take the US back to before the Great Depression. Those cuts along with the impact of rounding up 10 million illegals, and Trump’s tariff plans would lead to a recession if not depression. About Trump’s tariff plan, there’s a point that hasn’t been discussed - that not only would it increase costs to consumers, but it would cost jobs to American exporters because other countries would put tariffs on US exports. And yet there has been very little discussion around this crazy economic plan.

More here per Heather Cox Richardson ~ I am linking to FB because this is not on her blog for some reason:

What's also maddening is that no one sees that the US economy is indisputably the best in the world right now.

Covid was a global hit to every nation, but the US has far and away had the best recovery of any.

I can't keep up with which event, but yesterday Trump said, in meandering babble, that he would protect women "whether they liked or not." That's misogynistic, paternalistic, and frankly, kind of rapey. But of course it got a loud chorus of applause.

I assume this was at the garbage truck event?

I feel a little bad posting this while Smoove is around, as this one might put him over the edge, but Trump's transition chair just said a lot of bad things about vaccines.

Yeah, I know if Trump is elected its going to mean a lot of bad things for just about everyone, but I've already come to terms with the idea that an entire profession (mine) will likely be vaporized within a week.

Too late for any of that. He just needs to shamble across Election Day and then he can liquefy for all I care. I cannot even imagine what would happen to our already awful timeline between now and Tuesday if some type of medical emergency occurs and he's unable to be mentally and physically present for the election.

Oh no worries Smoove. As I read an article about bird flu making it to pigs I think in a few years we won't have to worry about elections ever again...

Trump has appeared on at least two occasions lately (probably more) with a new MAGA baseball hat: black with gold letters.

These are very definitely understood in right-wing circles to be Proud Boy colors. The PB's must be giddy at the recognition, but they're also certainly taking it an as endorsement and call to, once again, "stand by" for action as they did on January 6.

Trump's team absolutely knows the message that's being sent. It's intentional. That it has "coincidence" deniability is itself part of the message.

Filed in the Northern District of Texas, Amarillo division. Very Trump friendly venue.

Yes, I saw that too. This really has been an unreal ~5 years and even if Harris is elected, I'm having a hard time imaging some thing changing back. The push against vaccinations (all, especially childhood) has been steady and unrelenting. Going to keep working as long as I can but my days are numbered, regardless.

At some point enough is enough and even the die hard long term GOPers will turn. I have a feeling (with nothing to support this) that you will see a record number of registered Rs vote for Harris on election day. My prediction is that she may even win actual election day votes and then everything early vote wise will just be a pile on. I hope this is how it plays out because just the idea of it going that way is keeping me from sinking into dread like others on this board.

What I enjoy is when a comedian/reporter tells a MAGA that Biden did X, and they lose their freakin' minds. Then the comedian/reporter is like, whoops, my mistake, that's what drumpf did and then the MAGA start rationalizing so hard I can hear the gears grinding and see the smoke coming out of their ears.

I think this is a prime candidate for one of those. Biden called for the execution of so and so! Oh wait, no it was drumpf. The sheer hypocrisy might make them explode.

Locking up the 18-34 white male vote. Interestingly:
Known for its influence and large audience, Rogan’s show offers a unique opportunity for candidates to connect with younger, often independent-minded listeners in an unconventional setting. Rogan’s audience skews overwhelmingly male (80%), with a majority of listeners (51%) falling within the critical 18-34 age range. Politically, 35% of listeners identify as Independent or “something else,” while 32% align with Republicans, and 27% align with Democrats.

This. They might *think* they are independent-minded, because Rogan tells them they are, but they wouldn't be a Rogan audience if they were.

Which is not to say that Rogan doesn't have the occasional interesting guest/interview or whatever, but the sheer amount of nonsense he promotes (both personally and through guests) makes him part of the problem.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that young voters don't know Trump was recorded saying 'grab them by the p' but I am a little surprised. Thinking about it some more, I think to myself, 'why would they know?' It's not like the media did a replay of "Trumps Greatest Hits since 2016" but it begs another question. In this age where "nothing is forgotten when it comes to the internet" why wouldn't the opposition dig up a greatest hits compilation and play it on social media?

Or maybe they've been doing it all along and only now is it being reported?

A Trump greatest hits would be hours long. There is so much shit out there that a Gen Zer would tune it out after 30 seconds. It would probably seem fake or cherry-picked to them.
