I finished “3 Body Problem” last night. What an incredibly stupid show. The first couple episodes were decent, but once the mystery was revealed, it went downhill at catastrophic speed. I really only finished it to see how absurd it got.

The whole “Brains In Soaaaaace” thing was so ridiculous I literally laughed out loud.

I'm sorry to hear that. I actually thought it was some of the best sci-fi I've watched in years. :(

I did get appropriately icked out at the ship scene, which was really gross.

I liked it well enough, although I admit to getting a little disappointed by the reveal of the protagonists in the series. The year leading up to the show had folks on the ol' 'net talking about how great the books were, and I think I built up the story in my head to the point where there was never going to be a chance for it to surprise me.

Watched this. Bog standard spy stuff done OK but instantly forgettable. Had a good idea of blue collar spy organization and then pretty much completely bailed on it for cookie cutter action spy stuff.

Very disappointed, as Wahlberg's Netflix movies have been decent, if not better, and it could have leaned hard into the blue collar guy Saves the world and been interesting, but didn't.

I see that Halle Berry is in it, but what's that blank space next to her in that promo photo? It's vaguely human shaped, but empty.

Probably the best thing about the movie was the end credits photos. Dunno if they were photoshopped, but they appeared to be ~HS Wahlberg and Berry photos, and Wahlberg was in full Marky Mark mode... ;)

I'll be watching Mike Tyson beat the fuck out of Jake Paul on Friday. Well, it will probably be the second time I'm disappointed this November but I'm still hopeful for this one. This is the first Paul fight I have watched (seen clips). Really hoping Paul flips that switch for Tyson and he forgets that this is an exhibition.

Appearing in the film but not in that photo: J. K. Simmons.

I am really enjoying Because This Is My First Life, one of a billion South Korean dramas on Netflix. It's about 30-year-old woman who rents a room from a software engineer who is definitely on the spectrum. (He tells her that it's the room he intends to die in, because it's well-ventilated.) Her professional life is in shambles, his personal life is seemingly non-existent, will they fall in love?

Yes, it's very cliched. Yes, it's often predictable. But it is very well-written and acted, and I have fallen for it without reservation. Beyond the core romance, the show explores expectations for women in Korean society, mainly through the main character and her two best friends. One of them doesn't want attachment and has casual sex, and is cruelly judged for it. The other is desperate for marriage and children, and goes through the wringer in an entirely different way.

My wife got hooked on k-dramas during the pandemic, and this is the first one to really get its hooks into me.

My daughter is having a fit to see the Sabrina special, especially since she has a duet with Chappell Roan (Sabrina, not my daughter).

IDK who either of those people are. Clearly, I don't know any teenage girls.

AFRAID is new on Netflix, and unfortunately may not be that far away. My favorite part was:

the cardboard mock up of a quantum computer housing.
And I totally called it on the SWAT team.

We binged the whole season of "The Man on the Inside" in just three nights. If you like Ted Danson and old people, it's a heartwarming comedy that doesn't shy away from the downside of life in a nursing home. By the guy who brought us "The Good Place," it has a similar sensibility and stars some familiar faces. If you somehow *don't* like Danson then it's gonna be a hard pass.

Yeah, I have to agree. It's really quite good. I actually liked it better than The Good Place. It's a bit quieter and more thought-provoking.
