Finished watching Too Old to Die Young which was released in 2019. Only one season and wasn't renewed but it finishes I think with enough to figure out where they were hoping to finish the story. Definitely not for everyone. There are no good characters, just shades of darkness, which appealed to me. Also minimal dialoge as it is dark, moody, relying on imagery and expressions.

A great documentary about a criminally underrated band here in the States.
One of my absolute favorite groups.
This series had me in the feels quite a few times.

I'll have to check that out. I admit I'm not a big fan of the band, but I fully realize how accomplished they were in music. And you'd have to have a heart of stone not to be moved by Downie's story.

As a side note, Tubi has an amazing catalog of documentaries on bands. In the last few months, I've watched docs on Killing Joke, The Descendants, The Slits, GG Allin, Mojo Nixon and Brian Eno.

Another side note, while looking up info on Gord Downie, I came across a musician I'd not heard of named Geordie Greep. It took me one song to realize he's not for me. Two songs taught me he DEFINITELY was not for me.

Brothers

Take a bit of Bad Santa and a bit of Step Brothers and you get this. There were a couple of good laughs generated but overall I would say skip. The voice of the bad guy was annoying beyond bearable for me.

Not surprisingly Peter says it is a throwback movie.

As suspected, Season 3 might be in trouble.
Production has been paused on the third and final season of fantasy drama Good Omens, the Neil Gaiman drama for Amazon that’s shooting in Scotland.

Deadline is hearing there are discussions about possible production changes. A spokesperson would not comment.
Hopefully it's just that - a pause to put up whatever firewalls are necessary.
An update:

Good Omens is getting a final send-off, albeit a truncated one.

The Amazon fantasy drama will end with one 90-minute episode in lieu of a full third season with creator Neil Gaiman exiting after allegations were made against him by a slew of women.

I watched the last concert in 2016 - the one that the CBC graciously streamed to the internet. I'm not going to lie - I wept at the end. They really were something else and Gord was one of kind.

The wife and I rented a beautiful cabin and spent the day with a little drink, a little smoke and just enjoying nature.
Then we hooked a laptop up to the big screen tv and watched the last concert live.

It was a gloriously happy and yet a momentously sad day.

Not available in Mexico. (Would’ve been a good watch for the flight home.)

I can endorse Faceoff as a behind the scenes 6 episode view of a handful of NHL players making their way through the 2024 playoffs. (It was a good watch on the flight down to Mexico.)

Of course the real battle doesn't get going til 2/3 the way thru the movie. Lots better than those kung foo movies.
Just a heads up: I noticed that the final film in this trilogy is up on Amazon Prime now. Noryang: Deadly Sea. Gonna watch it tonight as I love this franchise.

I watched the first few episodes of this over the weekend. Here in Canada it's available on Crave rather than Amazon Prime Video. It's pretty cool, although I could do without the gossipy bits.

There are also similar Icons Unearthed documentary series for Harry Potter, Batman and Marvel, but I haven't watched any of them yet.

Mope is a movie I just chose for the hell of it. I figured it was going to be a bad movie so I did not give it my complete attention but it did leave me thinking about what happened. Learned something new as well. A mope is a male porn peformer that is low level, relegated to group sex scenes. In this movie we have two mopes that meet during a bukkake shoot and befriend each other. They think if they team up and work hard and persevere they will get their big break. But that is not how the industry works especially if you are not all there to begin with. Needless to say there is a lot of sexual content and T&A. A better movie than I thought it would be.

Blade Runner 2099 Wraps Production for Prime Video Miniseries
After six months of filming in Prague, Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming Blade Runner 2099 series has officially wrapped its production. At the moment, the action sci-fi show starring Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh currently has no premiere date yet for its Prime Video debut.

“In Los Angeles 2099, Cora lived her entire life on the run, a chameleon forced to adopt numerous identities,” reads the official logline. “To secure a stable future for her brother, she assumes one final identity and is forced to partner with Olwen, a Blade Runner who’s confronting the end of her life. The two are pulled into a widening conspiracy that poses an existential threat to a city that’s fighting to be reborn.”
