It is? I see it.
For motivation and so Jeff V can make me look bad:
2010 Totals: Biking: 65 miles Running: 393 miles
2009 Finals: Biking: 93 miles Running: 158 miles (I know it sucked, but I had a hernia most of the year)

I love it, but it's missing 2 legs. It's the only thing keeping it from being photorealistic!! :D

All the OO artwork Kratzer did and we end up up with that? I mean, good effort and everything, but my daughter's brought home more profound drawings from school.

It's a temporary thing, chill :). We just wanted to get rid of the PhpBB logo until we finalize the art we're going to use.

This should act as proper incentive for folks to submit any final artwork ideas they've got in the hopper.

You mean after we agued, reviewed, and modified for weeks to get that awesome graphical beginning to our motif you don't like it? Dang back to the drawing board! Kids daddy is running to the store for more crayons, be ready to color when I get back.

I dunno, I dig this simple design far more than B00bie's all stylized and professional crappage.

I like it. It really captures the stage that OO is at right now. The artwork should slowly get more refined as we move forward. :D

Remember back in the early days of OO, when it was just the core group of posters? Those people would never complain about petty stuff like this. Damn these noobs.

Can anyone tell me why on my PC in Opera I see the new logo but on the Mac in Safari I still see phpbb? I did refresh.
For motivation and so Jeff V can make me look bad:
2010 Totals: Biking: 65 miles Running: 393 miles
2009 Finals: Biking: 93 miles Running: 158 miles (I know it sucked, but I had a hernia most of the year)

Ohohh. Are the evil Macintoshes taking on the mighty octopi kingdom?

Look at the url for the picture itself(in windows right click and properties). What is displayed?

I don't have a properties option on OSX. If I open the image in a new window I get this link: http://www.octopusoverlords.com/phpBB2/ ... _phpBB.gif

Not that it matters, I am just curious as to why Safari doesn't see the new pic.

I'm quite curious as well. Try it now.

Also do you also get the old logo when you click on the link you posted?

Damnit first the Jeovah Witnesses and now the Octopi lords!

Hmmm. Very strange. Anyone else got a Mac with Safari? I'm thinking this may be an isolated to you issue, but it would be nice to be sure.

Sounds like Safari uses a caching method to speed up browsing. It keeps the old content around and re-displays it instead of downloading it - or checking to see if it changed. Usually clearing out the cache or manually refreshing fixes such things.

Yes, it's a cacheing thing. The image was replaced on the server as far as I can tell. So http://www.octopusoverlords.com/phpBB2/ ... _phpBB.gif as phpBB image didn't exist. As the six legged octopus, it did. If you were still getting the phpBB image, it was cached.

I think it would be kinda fun for forum members that have children get them to draw their version of the OO Octopus and have the image changed on a monthly basis. So there would be 12 different Octopi displayed for the 12 months of the year.

Whadda ya think? :?:

The octopus looks like he sees something he likes.

Further investigation is necessary.
