Please add my game to the line-up.

Ragnarök - Twighlight of the Gods

It's basically ready to go.

I will plan to put up the Game Post later tonight, but I was sorta holding off because I didn't want to jump the line or something.

Well, those of us in the afterlife would still enjoy reading your rulez set. Even if you change it later. 8-)

Hows it fricking feel? :)
Some claim to be things they aren't.
Some claim things they don't deserve.
Some claim to know more than they ever will.
I don't claim anything, because no one would believe the truth anyways.

Games Proposed:

Scoop 101 (WW Game) - Scoop
04-[WW]Harvey Birdman - Case of the Closed Court...of Doom! - sectoid
Warhammer 40k-Pending forum game when slot open - tru1cy
06 - [WW] OO JLA the Mystery - Chaosraven
Ragnarök - Twighlight of the Gods - Unagi

--------------------------------

I would generally rather Play than Mod these games, but will easily throw one out there for others in the event there isn't one ready.
(It's why I moved mine down the list each time another was suggested)

As far as coordinating a Lineup goes, I guess it depends on sectoid, tru1cy, and Scoop

Chaos, please move Scoop101 into the Back Burner (Break Glass in Case of Emergency) section. Thanks. Its really designed to be played in between the big games or to be played at the tail end of one of the big games when most of the players are dead and waiting. Sort of like now with the Scooby game but I'm not ready to mod a game right now.

Since I'm officially modding a game, I will ask if mine needs to be considered as part of this milieu when I decide to run it again.

The first place finisher is nearing victory, but I will run it out for succeeding places if the players desire. After that, I plan on about a month off before starting again.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

I think this is just for the WW games as folks can multi-game between Robo-rally and WW easily. Also, I am planning on picking up the game at some point so if you are interested in playing in one (and willing to teach me how you get the wonderful board shots) I would be willing to run one for folks.

That was Grund's find over at Board Game Geek under the images section.

It does not appear that all of the boards are represented, however, so I may have to give my scanner a go.

Anyone else or is it Scoop up?

I think Lassr is touching up the BSG games, and I have 4 days off that I can dust off the JLA Mystery to setup

I'd be alright with a break.

Unagi's game was fantastic, and I think we should leave it on a high note. Let's face it, Lassr's BSG will just bring that down. ;)

Its a simple game however. I should be able to recreate it quickly enough.

Hey Chaos:

Where is the current list of games now located?

I am re-working (slightly) and tweaking the rulez for my Zork game (currently in play) and I would like to put it on the list of upcoming games for the future. I think I can make a franchise out of this.

If I am the only game in the Coming Up section, then it might be advisable to take a break from the forum games. It does seem people are busier than in the past.

a break probably would be good.

I lost all my notes on the little tweaks I was going to do to BSG. Trying to remember what it was but if I can't I'll just go back to the last format we played.

Looks like we are going to take a break. How long with the forum game offseason last?

I offer Scoop's Zork II game to be the followup game after the first game following the offseason. (did that make sense?

I think there is just a general burn out. People are getting grumpier and losing their patience a little faster. I'd say 3 months at least. Unless people are just so hungry for more, but the sign ups for your game lagged.

Last revival, I recall a short break and CR started a back to basics game I think. The roles were added slowly, then maybe the forum melted down and a couple were played on GT. They trickled back here with the complex rules again, but absences have been a problem in every game I've played in the last. . . I dunno' year maybe?

You know, I think 3 months should be fine. I think the next game started should have a "contact me" list.

Purge - pauls@gamingtrend.com

Anywhere from 3-6 months would be good for me. (fall is an appealing time - summer months are pretty busy).

It'll be 4-6 weeks and someone will start a back to basics rule set with 10 people. Slowly the rules will grow in complexity and fun, and then people will stop dropping midgame and such. I think part of the burn though, is people's inability to make a decision. It's Day 1, you have to kill someone, just make a decision already. :P

it's cuz posting generally gets you killed in these buggers :)

I know for me some of these more complicated rule sets make it difficult. Trying to figure out all the roles and how they play and what is happening takes up time and sometimes I just don't have the time to do that so it can be discouraging. I know my BSG games falls into that category but at least I'm hosting that game.

Ugh, the rulez is what pulls me in personally. Trying to figure out how to effectively win and fool everyone else. Thats what I love about our forum games. Its all about the choices we make. Still I can understand other people not wanting to invest alot of time into this.

It's more because I have less time now than I use to and all the games now seem to be more complicated. It's been a while since we had a simple game. I just think that may lead to some of the burn out. Too many complicated ones in a row.

Personally I think the burnout comes from folks playing in the mind set of "needing to live" rather than realizing that individual players mean nothing in the long run, even the roles. It is about the information you can gain through each player's end that matters. Which doesn't mean I think folks should take up the "go ahead and kill me" attitude just that sometimes folks seem to feel like they are doing someone a personal wrong by killing them in game. There should be nothing personal in any of the games so folks should not worry about "well, he died early last game." or anything like that and just play.

Everyone should try this game live.

Having to make a decision on your vote within minutes of finding out who's dead and the spurious logic and the frenetic pace.

One of the reasons people are leery of making that decision or of being knocked out seems to be that there isn't another game to get in on, and won't be until this one is over... which could be a month or so...

So So true.

I get to do it again this weekend. Con is upcoming and Hoffman who works for cheap ass games and the guy who's named i dropped once or twice (national champion) will probably run a few dozen sessions of it. I'ma try and sneak out of nerf wars to play a couple hands and see if I can still crush people :)

that reminds me to hit hoffman for not scanning the werewolf when I asked him to and then he died so I assumed the scan had occurred and the guy was good, cost me a game, grr :)
