Re: Name that movie....(possible 56K warning)
So the movie is Ganja & Hess.
The film was then remade in 2014 by Spike Lee as Da Sweet Blood of Jesus
If you have any interest in exploring this, I recommend checking out the video at Good Bad Flicks that digs into the history and production of this film. For that matter, I highly recommend Good Bad Flicks in general.
Despite winning the critics' choice prize at the 1973 Cannes Festival, the film performed poorly and was subsequently rescored and drastically recut to take a more Blaxploitation angle and was released under the title Blood Couple. It was recut again years later and released as Double Possession.A film by director David Gunn, known at the time primarily as a playwright and stage director, after he was approached by a studio with the idea of making a "black vampire" film. Though Gunn later told a friend, "the last thing I want to do is make a black vampire film," he accepted the project with the intention of using vampirism as metaphor for addiction.

So, with that out of the way, let's try something a little easier.

That puts me in mind of Gene Hackman in Uncommon Valor.

Most likely because that's Gene Hackman in Uncommon Valor.

That looks like Sicario right before the home invasion.

Close. It's Sicario right before the conclusion of the home invasion.

Sicario flew under the radar for a lot of people. If you haven't seen it, you should. It's excellent.

I've been sitting on the disc from Netflix for a few weeks now. I do need to get it watched.

I take that to mean you did some research. I liked it.
And for the others, he's another shot with the lead. (Since I'm sure everyone recognized him from the first shot. )

Was the first screenshot you posted (before you edited) a behind the scenes still? It really threw me off a bit (although I would have had no clue on this one regardless).

I think so. After looking at it a few times I realized that so I switched it with one from the movie.

Gee, I put up a picture of the star and there are no guesses?
Bad pick on my part, since every other screen shot I could find was a closeup of the titular monster:
Yes, it's The Crawling Eye.
Someone else go.
