Just another reason to go electric!

Then again my car doesn't have an arrow telling me which side the plug is on (does it?). I generally remember where to park in my garage though.

Mine doesn't have an arrow either. But it has a gas pump icon and the hose is on the correct side. But never remembered it. I always had my wife with me and she'd always remind me "Remember its on my side honey".....but come on you have a 50/50 chance. Failing repeatedly is a sign of stupidity.

It wasn't until the 90s that I owned a car that didn't fill up by pulling the license plate down < or > wouldn't have made sense. In the 90s I owned a series of cars made in 84, so I didn't know it was a thing until 98 when I bought my first new car.

I didn't know it started as a Ford thing. I chuckle because Ford are notorious for having rotten gas gauges.

I've never seen (or noticed?) an arrow on any car I've driven. Every car I've owned always had the gas on the driver side. Periodically when I rent a car that happens to have it on the passenger side, I'll forget and drive into a gas station on the wrong side of the pump.

These days, I mostly fill up at Costco, and they have super-long hoses that can stretch to either side of the car :)

The gas cap is always the side opposite the one with the exhaust pipe. Unless your car's exhaust pipe is dead center, in which case you're defying the laws of physics.

Most American and Asian car companies put the gas fill on the driver's side. It's more popular to put it on the passengers side for European brands. My Audi and wife's Volvo both have it on the passenger side, and that turns out to be a significant advantage. Why? Because a majority of people are trying to pull up to the pump on the driver's side. Filling on the passenger side often allows me to get through a gas line more quickly because most people would rather wait for the correct side than drag a hose around their car. I can often pull straight up to a pump on my passengers side without having to wait...very convenient

It considered safest to put it on the Passenger Side.

This is the side, when out of gas and stranded on the side of the road in the middle of the night, that doesn't expose you to traffic when re-filling.

Mines on passenger. Hell put it back in the middle again like old days. Then its all equal. Cept for when the gas cap pops out from holding that license plate open thats under 1 ton of spring loaded pressure and it snaps closed on your hand and has the plate screws stabbing you. Had that happen before.

Yes...but many Americans are lazy, bad drivers so they put it on the driver's side. You don't have to walk around the car to fill up, and the view is better for stopping right next to the pump.

It's no longer legal to place it in the center because getting rear-ended, breaking the fill stem off the tank and spilling fuel everywhere is frowned upon.

All the cars I've owned have had the gas on the passenger side.

They were Nissan, Volvo, and Subaru. Why do I hate America?

Toyota and Honda are on the driver side. Every car I've ever owned was driver side. If it's on the "passenger" side in European cars, doesn't that make sense? That is the driver side for them? (They drive on the other side of the road, don't they put the steeing wheel on the other side too?).

Yeah, not a car guy, no clue (not that I overly care either mind you).

I assume you're like me, and so many American cars you've known people to have were typically easy to repair and for some reason constantly needing it. I tend to go for my perception of more reliable, even if it's more expensive to fix. I'm on my third Nissan in 20 years.

I remember seeing that video about a month ago.
At the time, my understanding was the ‘victim’ was trying to take control of a bus?

I’ll need to read up.
I also felt at the time that the CTA guy could have easily paralyzed or killed the guy.

Lol... I think it qualifies as a body slam. Specifically, a scoop slam from behind. Whether or not he thought they were engaged in a wrestling match, I do not know.

I didn't read anything that said he was trying to take control of the bus. The way I read it (and heard it) there are three stories, which don't entirely contradict each other, although the linked story did an awful job of conveying it.

1) Driver A was sitting in his bus. Two guys argued with him. Guy #2 left. Then Guy #1 showed him 'something', then somehow he and the driver got into it, at which point Driver B came up and slammed Guy #1.

2) Driver A was sitting on the bus. Guy #1 was also on the bus. Driver A got off the bus while on the route. Guy #2 was in a hurry, told the bus driver to do his job because he was in a hurry, then sat back down. Driver A then got back on, told Guy #1 to leave the bus, argued with him, then when Guy #1 got off, Driver A hit him and kicked him. Then they ended up outside and Driver B walked up and slammed Guy #1.

3) Driver B saw Guy #1 and Guy #2 fighting with Driver A. Driver B walked up and slammed Guy #1.

It sounds like Driver B (the guy who got fired) just saw the two fighting, ran up, and performed a move that was potentially lethal in any of the stories. Story 3 (Driver B) has me wondering where Guy #1 went if that slam happened while the other driver was being attacked by two people. The slammee's team is pushing hard to get the surveillance tape from the bus that supposedly shows the rest of the story and puts the blame on the driver.

It's enough to make me give the guy that got slammed the benefit of the doubt.

Honestly, short of Guy#1 threatening Driver-A with a gun - I think the body slam was a total over-reaction. Guy#1 could easily have been killed/paralyzed.

The only general 'defense' is just one of context of the scene that CTA was dealing with that night, is my understanding - but that doesn't say Guy#1 was causing anything.

Also, (not that it makes a difference) , but out of your 3 stories - I thought I heard a version where Guy#1 sprayed some liquid on Driver-A - which started Driver-A's reaction...
