The group doesn't use that name, that's a purely English-language abbreviation. So you can blame western media for this one.
I recall when the Obama administration and the US military adopted ISIL instead of ISIS. The former was more accurate, since the group calls itself the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" more often than the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria."
But "ISIS" is easier to say and make for more compelling dialogue (probably because of English phonemes and the goddess's name).

There's an entire Wikipedia article that tries to sort out the different names/translations/acronyms: Names of the Islamic State
The name of the Islamic State has been contentious since 2013. In Arabic, the group called itself al-Dawlah al-Islāmīyah fī al-`Irāq wa al-Shām (الدولة الإسلامية في العراق والشام), which it adopted in April 2013. The literal translation of its previous name resulted in confusion, resulting in both ISIS and ISIL, two acronyms based on different literal translations of the name into English. Apart from these, an Arabic-derived acronym, "Daesh", Da'ish or Dā`iš (داعش), which is also the common name for the group beyond the Arabic-speaking parts of the world. Finally, the group's current name caused controversy due to its English translation as Islamic State and as a result, both the previous acronyms are still widely used, or a qualifier is often added to the IS name, such as "Islamic State militant group", "Islamic State extremist group", "Islamic State terrorist group", "self-styled Islamic State" or "so-called Islamic State".

ISIS was always hot..too bad her name was taken over by modern terrorists.
Isis was one of the most widespread and popular goddesses of the pre-Christian Roman Empire, with adherents from east of the Mediterranean to England, and people still worship her today. Her name was borrowed by DC comics long before news stations started using it as an acronym for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. It seems pretty unlikely that an extremist/fundamentalist religious group would choose the name of a goddess from a different religion to represent them.
I assume Daehawk just meant that the 'word' had been co-opted by way of the ISIS acronym - not that the terrorist group co-opted the goddess.
But, who knows?
Not what I was saying - I was responding both to the idea that the name came from a TV show, and to the idea that the terrorist group chose the name, point out that both were wrong. Before I became an atheist, oh, 15 years ago now, Isis was one of my two named deities, so I have some fond knowledge of her.
It seems pretty unlikely that an extremist/fundamentalist religious group would choose the name of a goddess from a different religion to represent them.
That was to point to the absurdity of the idea of them choosing the name, not to say that they were using the deity. It would be like a fundamentalist Christian group calling themselves "Hecate."
That wasn't the first - Fallout 76 was measuring things in Flamingo Units a year before that!

One of Boston's TV stations had a diminutive woman reporter named Shelby Scott who was always sent out to cover blizzards. Large snowstorms came to be measured in "shelbies" -- how deep the snow would be compared to Shelby.
I think that would be greasepunk (50s hot rod/greaser culture} rather than atompunk (atomic/space age culture) like Fallout, or Steampunk (19th century steam powered mad science )
And yes, those are all real terms, and yes, there are far too many 'timepunk' variants, and yes, I am being silly.

Are we sure it's not "Stray Cat Punk" or "Elvis Punk"?

I'm guessing you meant "Stray Cat Punk" ?
I apologize, I just couldn't stop myself.

I believe those still fall under 'greasepunk.' It's a little too early for it to be transistorpunk, too straightforward for atompunk, and too clean for rustpunk (the Mad Max aspect of things like Fallout.) You might be able to make an argument for dieselpunk.
And no, I'm not being serious, although those terms are still real ones. I appreciate that the people that enjoy these things (sort of a hybrid cosplay/re-creation type thing with a narrow focus) have their lingo, but from the outside it's a little... excessive.

Then again, hearing video gamers argue about what constitutes a 'real' RPG, or tabletop gamers explaining why certain games are called "Ameritrash" is probably just as absurd when seen from the outside.

Someone should do a comic where fantasy monsters are playing an RPG and role-playing as human office workers, students, and retail clerks.
(I feel sure someone must have thought of this already.)

Several times.

I've been messing with AI for the past few weeks, so I decided to see what it would give me.

Those are excellent. I thought they were playing Core Space at first.

Did you add "in a basement" to the prompt, or did AI just determine that that's a core part of playing RPGs?

Can you walk through the process with whatever level of detail you are willing to sacrifice your personal time to share? I have some ideas I would like to see how the AI would do. I have no clue where to start.

I don't think any of them are named characters. The topic was 'fantasy monsters playing D&D', and this is what the AI spit out.
Even if the bars were vertical, any self respecting second story man would be over it in seconds.

But posting a photo of a well designed fence and adding the headline “a good second story thief would get past this in a second” goes from being funny to being a public safety announcement.
