I think he wandered down the wrong alley. Slow zombies are deadly if you've no escape route planned.

Wow. For some reason this zombie just breaks my heart. I hope the show embodies more like this. There are other pictures from the show too. I can't hardly wait.

This is from a few weeks ago, but there's a short video on Youtube showing the makeup job for Bicycle Girl. NSF those that are easily upset by zombie gore.

The official 4:30 trailer is now on the Walking Dead AMC site (not all skakey-cam w/ bad audio)

The show premieres 10/31 at 10pm and will be 90 minutes. Fan-freaking-tastic.

It was indeed awesome. I hope the series isn't abruptly cancelled or hijacked...no, be positive: it'll be dramatic and fascinating viewing. Fingers' crossed.

Hasn't even premiered yet, and AMC has greenlit a second (full 13-episode) season:
According to Empire via Fangoria, “The Walking Dead,” has been officially renewed for a second season and filming is set to start in February of next year. The first season which is scheduled to begin on October 31st (yep, Halloween), is only 6 episodes but the second with be a full 13. The show might take a cue from volume 2 of the comic book and move the setting of the story out of the blazing heat and into a different season.

Want. I just finished reading World War Z for the 1st time last week. I'm gettin' my Zombie on!

Only downside...I'm staring to have a few zombie nightmares. Scary, but oddly fun...

There's a 17-minute behind-the-scenes video here. I haven't watched it (I'd like there to be at least SOME surprises when I sit down to watch the show), but I figure there's folks here might be interested.

Well, as some of you no doubt have already heard, the pilot episode is leaked all over the net, even YouTube (on purpose? who knows... the modern techniques of corporate cyber-hype work in mysterious ways).

But on that note, to paraphrase REO Speedwagon, I heard it from a friend who... said it's all kinds of awesome.

Avoiding the episode. Noticing that they had zombies walking around half a dozen cities around the world this week, including Boston. Wish I knew about it, they were around the corner from my office.

I noticed my Series 1 TiVo is all jacked-out with the time scheduling, starting on Sunday. I guess daylight savings was hard-coded into the units? I dunno - that seems ridiculous. Anyway, as a heads up make sure you're watching your DVR and that it's accurately set up to record the show.

For 50 years, determining the DST date was always the same. Of course they would have programmed that into the unit. It didn't change until 3 years ago. That's what you get for still using a Series 1 Tivo unit from 1998. :)

So excited - cannot wait to stay up past my bedtime, pop some popcorn, and watch the premiere with the lights turned low and probably hail, sleet and snow coming down outside. It's going to be a miserable night for trick-or-treating, but an awesome night for TV.

I've convinced tlr to at least watch the pilot with me, but she won't be home early enough from work until Tuesday. It's going to be tough to remain spoiler-free until then.

While teaching the DVR about this show I discovered that we don't have a HD AMC channel. I haven't gone slumming in the double-digit channels in ages. Regardless of whether or not the show's any good, I don't know if I can stand to watch it in SD.

It's almost unheard-of lately for a TV show to live up to the hype. If I had to pick one to do it, this probably would have been it. I'm simultaneously thrilled and devastated that it's only a 6-episode series. And this coming from a guy who gets very annoyed with the trend of 13-episode series that's been common the last several years. Six eps isn't going to be nearly enough to satisfy, but if the premier is any indication, they're at least going to be six terrific episodes.

So that's it? 6 and done? No second volume?

Hopefully they don't try to cram the entire series of comics into those six episodes, and if there's enough praise and ratings....

(BTW--the first episode of the show was the absolute apex of Zombie Apocalypse goodness. Everything done exactly right.)

thought I read that they are filming season 2 right now. So 6 episodes for season one and yes it was fantastic!

No, didn't mean to imply that. It's already been green-lit for a second season that will be more than 6 episodes (though I forget the number - might have been in the 12-13 range). But I don't expect to see that on TV anytime in the immediate future, which means I'm going to spend longer than I'd like to desperately wanting more. :D
