Spoiler:
The first part of my plan for this year is complete, Red Scorpion has the ability to move 4 hexes instead of two so I am moving her into Jow's homeland to complete my quest secrets and lies. I'll collect one reward and train her strength one point, which will come in handy for the next quest I plan to do. I'll be spending this turn gathering influence so I can try and recruit the dragon north of my archer this fall. Having the dragon would be nice, but I'm hemmed in with nuetrals I need to open a space if I'm going to expand any farther.

docD's Quest Phase
Red Scorpion uses her special ability to damager herself to move 4 squares North to JC, looks at the rune in that space. She then completes the quest:

Secrets and Lies
It is impossible for us to separate the truth from the rumors about our enemy. Our only hope is to get someone on the inside...
Travel to an enemy's home realm to receive a Reward card and train 1 attribute.

Red Scorpion gets +1 strength and a reward card.

(Reward cards are usually various magical items. They range from boosting combat ability, defense, stuff that affects neutrals, and more. They remain face-down until the hero uses them, then become public knowledge.)

Next Summer Quest Phase: Scoop/Uthuk
3) Scoop: 1-Strategize (1 Influence, 1 starting)
4) Zurai: 2-Mobilize (1 Influence, 4 starting)
5) Lagom: 2-Mobilize (1 Influence, 3 starting)

Nothing personal Jow, you were the only one Red could reach this turn. I'm still looking forward to killing, I mean meeting your envoys.

Summer Quest Phase: Scoop/Uthuk

Mad Carthos trains his Agility to +2.

Processing Zurai's turn.

(By the way, I reread the rules and there's some stuff I missed. Each hero has a max of +2 to an attribute. Also, after you get a Reward from a quest, you immediately draw a new quest. Also, I'm in the middle of redoing some of the back end of how I handle these games, I'm typing up every component, and using more text files to keep track of things instead of previously using tons of plastic bags, so I'm going to be a bit slow to process turns for the next few days, especially now that I'm back taking some night classes and working, but afterwards turn processing will go much faster.)

Summer Quest Phase: Zurai/Latari

Astarra moves to 4B and attempts the Quest:
Stealthy Scout
There are rumors of an army massing in the Velvet Plains. Carefully survey the area and return without being caught.
Location: 4B
Test Agility
Success: Receive Reward.
Neutral: Clumsiness forces the hero to engage the enemy. Take 1 damage. If not defeated, receive Reward.
Failure: The hero walks into a trap. Take 2 damage. If not defeated receive Reward.

Fate Results: Neutral and Success!

Astarra receives a Reward and Zurai draws a new quest.

Summer Quest Phase: Lagom/Daqan

Sir Valadir moves to 6B.

Pending:
All players must PM me their Order card for this Season.
(Send it again if you already did since it's probably buried under 2 games worth of PMs by now.)

Okay, first, I am playing... da da daaaaaa... Favorable Alliance.

The envoy arrives at the dark gates and is escorted into the undead fortress. Trembling, he is led down dark, crumbling corridors, sidestepping piles of bones and other detritus all the way in. He finally arrives in the throne room and tremulously lays the package at DocD's putrescent feet.

"This should make up for the slight on King Jow's behalf, your... highness."

First, this card allows me to gift one player with 1-4 influence tokens. I'm choosing to give DocD four influence.

In return, Doc, you have to choose to give me 1-4 influence in return. Choose wisely. :)

Second, due to the number of successes already drawn on diplomacy and other rolls, I'm going right to battle.

Jow chooses to battle in 5A.

Battle in 5A: Archer, Sorceress, Warrior vs. 2 Razorwings
Initiative 1 Fate Draws:
Archer uses Crack Shot to deal 1 damage to a Razorwing! A Razorwing is destroyed!
vs.
A Razorwing misses!
A Razorwing uses its special attack, Stun! Jow must rout one of his units with initiative 2 or higher.

docD/Waiqar must choose how much influence to give back to Jow/Jowatal.

Lurkers:
Spoiler:
After realizing why I didn't get the PM with my reward and new quest (full PM inbox, whoops), I got the info from Turtle.

The reward was "Timmoran Shard" which -- dun dun dunnnn! -- lets me gain a Dragon Rune when I turn it in at a stronghold.

My new quest is to kill a rampaging troll in 6B, which is the square Lagom's hero is in. Since I don't want to tangle with another hero just yet, I'm going to retreat my hero at next opportunity. I'm not going to turn in that rune yet, though. I want to save it for a little while later. Jumping out to an early lead in these types of games tends to be a bad idea, and I've already attracted enough attention for snaring that Dragon. I want to lie low for a few more turns at least.

The new quest is rather similar to the one I just beat. It's a Strength test (draw cards equal to Strength; in Astarra's case, 2): If I draw a success, no damage and I get a reward card. Any other result, I take 2 damage and get a reward card if I live. Astarra has 3 health, so she can survive a bad result, but she may not survive a duel afterwards if someone was feeling feisty. I think I'll hold her back and train her some this next Summer.

I don't much like that Influence tactic that Jow played with DocD, but there's nothing I can do about it for now. Hopefully they don't make any sort of real lasting alliance out of it. Maybe I should think about sending an envoy of my own out to Lagom...

My Harvest order is in for this season, and I'll be planting a diplomat at my current Stronghold. Still deciding which Order to play during the Fall. It will probably be Recruit, netting me 1 archer, 1 pegasus rider, and 1 sorceress at LB. My tentative Winter Order is a Rally Support, letting me get one of the resources provided by my city (a Hell Hound, a Quest, a Tactics card, or two Influence) and buy a new Hero. That's very nebulous at this point, though; need to see what the board looks like in the Winter.
Turtle, I like the continued map improvements. I was thinking about suggesting coloring the map tiles their owners' color, myself. One note: my Hero is at 4B, not LB, unless something's happened that I didn't notice. Not that I mind her being where she is, but my opponents might object to me getting a free two tiles movement for her...

Jow chooses to route a Sorcercess.

Battle in 5A continued...
Initiative 2 skipped.

Initiative 3 Fate Draws:
Warrior deals 2 routs! The last Razorwing is routed.

Final Battle Strength:
Archer 1
Warrior 1
Sorceress (routed) 0
vs.
Razorwing (routed) 0
Total: Jow 2 vs. Neutrals 0

Jow wins the fight!
docD (the player to Jow's left) must choose where the remaining Razorwing retreats.

docD/Waiqar gains 4 influence from Jow's Favorable Alliance tactics card and must choose how much influence (1-4) to give back to Jow/Jowatal.

(Un-Allied Neutrals can only retreat into adjacent uncontrolled areas. Uncontrolled Areas means any location not owned by a player. Home realms are always Owned by their player, so un-allied neutral units can never retreat into home realms.)

(While we wait for those decisions, here's some more turns. Also, don't feel pressured to pre-set your turns, especially as the game progresses a lot of small decisions will end up meaning a lot.)

Turn 2: Uthuk Y'llan (Scoop) 2-Mobilize
Scoop first plays:
Spread Dissent - Play during your turn. Choose 1 area containing neutral units. All neutral units must retreat from the area (even if allied to a player, activated, or routed). If the units cannot legally retreat they are destroyed.

On area 2A2, forcing the Giants to retreat. Zurai must choose to which hex the Giants retreat. He then moves 1 Berserker from 3B into the 2A2.

Scoop then plays:
Reinforcements - Play during your turn. Recruit 1 of the following at 1 of your strongholds: 1 Hexagon unit, 2 Rectangle units, 2 Circle units, or 3 Triangle units.

Which he uses to recruit a Chaos Lord at UA.

Supremacy Bonus: Scoop then activates 3A and moves the Chaos Lord (UA), Warlock, and Fleshripper (3B) into 3A to battle the Sorcerers.

Battle in 3A! Flesh Ripper, Warlock, and Chaos Lord vs. 2 Sorcerers.
Initiative 1 Fate Draws:
Flesh Ripper causes 1 rout! A sorcerer is wets his pants!
A Sorcerer uses his special ability, Undying! Each Sorcerer has 2 health now.
A Sorcerer also uses Undying, but it has no effect.
Initiative 2 skipped
Initiative 3 Fate draws:
Warlock deals 1 damage. Standing Sorcerer is reduced to 1 health!
Initiative 4 skipped
Initiative 5 Fate draws:
Chaos Lord "ROARS!" causing 2 routs. The last Sorcerer is routed.

Final battle Strength: Scoop 3 vs Neutrals 0
Scoop wins the battle!
Zurai must decide where the Sorcerers retreat.

Turn 3: Latari Elves (Zurai) Order 4-Harvest
Zurai's counts all resources in the areas he controls and sets his tracks accordingly. His resources are now at: Food 3, Wood 3, and Ore 4.

Supremacy Bonus: Zurai then reduces his wood track by 1 to build a Diplomat development at his stronghold in LB.

Turn 4: Daqan Lords (Lagom) 5-Recruit
Lagom plays the tactic card:
Lost City - Play during your turn. Choose an uncontrolled area containing 1 of your heroes. All neutral units retreat from the area (even if routed). Then place 1 of your stronghold tokens (damaged) in the area.

On space 6B to force the Hellhound to retreat, then places one of his Strongholds in that area damaged. Jow must choose where the Hellhound retreats.

Then using his Recruit order, he recruits from his Ore and Wood tracks, placing a Knight and 2 Bowmen in 6B.

/An emissary for Lord Zurai of the Latari approaches.

Lord Zurai,

I come to you humbly and with the hope of alliance. I have word of betrayal. The Jowite Elves are traitors. They have pledged allegiance with the dread Waiqan and threaten to destroy all that is good.

To the southeast, demons are crawling up from unnamed abysses. I can help you repel these monsters. I will fortify a number of strongholds in the centre of the map, though I suspect I will have my hands full repelling Jowite invaders.

Your people need food. There are fertile lands at 1A and 1B, they're all yours. With 4B your people will have as much food as they can eat. If you can handle the giant, you can have the ore in 6D as well.

Be warned, however. Latari aggression into Daiqan territory will be dealt with harshly and swiftly. We want the city at 6C, and we will take it. Interference in this matter will not be tolerated.

Expand in peace! Expand eastward!

Yours,

General Lagom of the Daiqan.
But you've seen who's in heaven
Is there anyone in hell?

For the audience:
Spoiler:
Since alliances are forming in the east, Zurai might be interested in a non-aggression pact over here in the west. Scoop might run away in power if unchecked, and I don't know how effective docD will be in repelling him atm. Scoop has an awful lot of ore and with Scoop and Jow expanding westwards, it would be in both mine and Zurai's interest to show a united frontier.

I don't know how good an idea it is to beeline for the 6C city since Scoop and Zurai may have planned to go for it as well, but since I'm in position anyway I'll do it and then fortify it once claimed. If Scoop tries to take it he will be overextending himself, leaving himself open to counterattack from Zurai. If Zurai attacks me I'll have to drop everything and invade him instead, which gimps both him and me, giving the game to Scoop or Jow. So, I hope he will accept my request.

If I get to keep 6C and maintain peace with Zurai I'll just turtle through and fortify the food and wood tiles nearby. I won't expand needlessly or try to get lots of ore. I'll try to make the most out of the cities, meaning I'll play lots of Rally Support Orders, having lots of heroes doing lots of quests and duelling the other's heroes.
But you've seen who's in heaven
Is there anyone in hell?

You're right, that's not the case ;)

You have to maintain a presence in every area you want to maintain control of -- either with a unit of your race or with a stronghold.

Lord Lagom of the Daqar:

He are pleased to hear that the corruption spreading through the lands has not yet seeped into the Lords of the North. For now, we are willing to accept your offer of alliance, though meddling in our affairs will be met with swift reprisal. We do find it amusing that you cede the lands closest to our own realm to us. Perhaps this is what you Humans term "a joke"?

For lurkers:
Spoiler:
Well, tentative alliance with Lagom set. I'm sure it won't last all game, and I'm not going to trust him farther than I have to, but aside from him taking 6B I'm fine with his terms. As long as I can get both 1B and 2C1, though, it won't be a big deal. I need both of them in order to get access to enough Wood to fulfill my Objective, and I need to put a Stronghold on one and increase the resources as well. Lagom's move complicated things for me immensely.

So my current long-term plan is to take 2C1. Obviously Scoop of Chaos is in that vicinity, so it's the more pressing of the two Wood tiles available to me. I can't really do anything about it this year, but I should hopefully be able to take it first thing in Spring. What I'm doing is Recruiting now, grabbing 2 Warriors, 1 Sorceress, and 1 Pegasus Rider (the extra Swordsmen is due to the extra Food from the season card this turn). In Winter I'll do something else -- either Rally Support or Acquire Power, but I'm undecided as to which.

Then in Spring I pull a repeat of what I did this year: Mobilize, activate 4B, send in the Sorceress and two Warriors from LB (the ones I'm recruiting this Season) and try to ally with the Sorcerers. Then I'll activate 2C1 and send my Pegasus Rider (who flies and is fast, either of which would let him make the trip) from LB and my Sorceress and Dragon from 4A. They should handily defeat the lone Hellhound and leave me in firm control of that hex.

Then sometime later in the year I Fortify 2C1, which should solidify my control there for quite a while (undamaged Strongholds count as 5 units when determining who wins a fight, so having an undamaged Stronghold means someone has to attack with at least 6 units if they want to win, barring tactics cards to damage the Stronghold), as well as blocking access to 4B for non-fliers (and Chaos has no fliers). At the next Harvest after that (which will have to be in Year 3 at the earliest, because adding Developments is a Supremacy bonus of the Harvest Order, but Fortify is a higher numbered Order card), I'll add another Wood resource there.

That's the plan, anyway.

Thankfully, due to bountiful harvest, you won't get hit with losing units come this winter.

However, I still need your decision on the Fall season card.

Also, the Hellhound from 6B can't retreat to 1A, since it needs to retreat to an adjacent uncontrolled space.

Sorry, I meant 6a - there's not even a 1A space on the board.

I'll take a tactics card for the fall event.
