Yeah, this seems a bit premature to me...
A Loins fire sale now should make for quite a pleasant Football and Turkey Day.

Demariyus Thomas to the Texans.

*Shrug* I don't think it's a firesale and I don't see the Lions backing in to the playoffs and if the whole league drops to let Lions in, I sure don't see them winning a playoff game. Tate won't be back in 2019, so a 3rd round pick sounds good to me. *shrug* It's the least Lions move I've seen since I don't know when, so I'm not angry about it all. Tate was and is a great player and I'm thankful for his time here, but players with huge contracts that will be considered aging by the time you need them to be at the top of their game is not what the Leo's need.

Tate was also rumored to be part of the discontent against Patricia over work ethic. Of course that's just rumors. We'll see what happens with Quin another rumored discontent...

Anyone interested in giving a 3rd rounder for Abdula?

Edit, this is what you had to figure out at the end of the season vs a 3rd round pick

They also restructured Marvin Jones's contract, saving $2.2M more under the cap so it looks like a bunch of administrative/cap moves.

I agree that it seems early but isn't this the trade deadline? Now or never.

I didn't realize it was the trade deadline so it makes a little more sense.

CBS
Trades must be fully completed by 4 p.m. ET on Oct. 30. To reiterate, trade must be entirely completed. Just ask the Browns and Bengals, who agreed to a trade last year but didn't notify the NFL before the deadline came and went, which negated their agreement.

Full list, I think:
Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to the Redskins. Dante Fowler Jr. to the Rams. Ty Montgomery to the Ravens. Golden Tate to the Eagles. Demaryius Thomas to the Texans. And Le'Veon Bell is still a Steeler.
I'm thinking the best move here was made by the Redskins.

Yeah. but with a 1.5 game lead on the Eagles, it's a really solid move for them.

Oh, I'm 100% for it. If they aren't gonna score a lot of points, go out and have a top flight defense.

I've just always rooted for Alex Smith - I met him at an Elite Eight game before his rookie year, and he got an extremely raw deal in SF, both in terms of horrendous ownership/coaching, as well as the fans. And then Harbaugh turned him and his career around.

Agreed. I'm really hoping the Pats have everything locked up before the Christmas week meeting.

Now that was a fun win!

Although it was against the Raiders, our 3rd stringer looked great. Would like to see him play a more competent team though.

Another Chargers win on the last play of the game - difficulty bonus for winning in Seattle. Now they need to claim a placekicker off waivers.

Now go Packers?!?

The offense may have gotten worse overall, but with only three INTs in 49 attempts, Peterman decreased his interception rate. So, progress?

There's a new podcast called The Season, and it chronicles the 2008 Steelers and their trip to the Super Bowl. The series is billed as a discussion between some of the key players on the team and the coaches. Obviously, I'm biased... but I thought it was fantastic and I think football fans in general will enjoy it a lot. The first episode is out. It starts off a little rocky, but when the players settle in to their discussion about their opponents it starts to shine. Apparently, Philip Rivers is a notorious trash talker. And Maurice Jones-Drew was small but fierce. Ike Taylor said he got hit so hard by MJD that it made him question whether he was cut out to play football.

Nothing to do with the 2018 season, but still hilarious:
former offensive lineman David Diehl said Raiders coaches used to give Russell blank tapes to determine if he was studying film.

Diehl noted Russell would come into the Raiders' facilities the day after receiving the tapes saying that he watched the blitz packages.
In the wisdom of Bull Durham:
He's got a million dollar arm, and a five cent head.

The Eagles have the 23rd ranked Offense in the NFL. That same offense is ranked #1 in the NFC East. That's pretty amazing.

I missed most of it, damn it. A good friend is getting married today and we were at a mix and mingle thing during the game last night. Every time I looked at the TV the Steelers had scored. A lot of my conversations ended up with some variation of “uh, huh. Wow, that’s gre... GO GO GO GO GO GO..... TOUCHDOWN!!!!” followed by me trying to high five strangers who did not want to reciprocate.

Was at the game and the joke in the lounge during the half was that he only drama left in the blowout game was whether he could hit more posts.

And the Lions won this week largely due to a missed field goal and missed PAT by the opposing kicker, one of which clanged off an upright.

And don't forget the Packers game where Crosby missed 3 (or was it 4?) field goals and one PAT, handing the Lions the win.

Not good to be an opposing kicker against the Lions.
