Now I can't read that name as anything but Booty Train. That will probably be one of the HuniePop sequels.Smoove_B wrote:Read it quickly and thought it was Booty Train. Almost purchased.
Isn't there another train game where you can add guns and lasers and stuff to your train cars and you get attacked by zeppelins and planes and things of that sort and possibly other weaponized trains?
There is no hug button. Sad!

Re: Steam's Deals of the Day/Weekend/Midweek
I finally picked up Deponia: the complete journey for 6 bucks. My 8 year old daughter is helping me play through.
It's not great but I'm loving introducing her to the basics of adventure games and problem solving.
There are some minor language issues that are on the border of what I let my daughter hear but nothing too bad so far.

I think I've watched the various BroForce trailers like 5 times and I've been trying to talk myself out of it. It just looks like ridiculous quick fun.

Ha - same here. And I'm pretty sure I watched most of them during a previous sale as well. I'm both turned off and on by the game (and its trailers) at the same time. Very disturbing.Smoove_B wrote:I think I've watched the various BroForce trailers like 5 times and I've been trying to talk myself out of it. It just looks like ridiculous quick fun.
I think each time I have considered it, my conclusion is: 'this is exactly the kind of game I'm on the fence about, buy it, and within 3 minutes of playing, immediately regret the decision.'

It's $6 though. I spent more than that on lunch today. Plus, if it's that' terrible, I could ask for a refund.

Re: Steam's Deals of the Day/Weekend/Midweek
It's not the money or the potential to be terrible for me personally, it's continually picking titles to buy that I should know I won't like. They could be great titles, with "Overwhelmingly Positive" and 80+ Metacritic scores, but I just won't get into them.
Some of that has changed with age (I seemingly have no patience for the slog or backtracking of adventure games anymore, and it used to be one of my favorite genres), but it's also me thinking "I still have never played or finished (insert any top rated game in the past 10 years) - why am I playing this with the precious little gaming time I have these days?"

I'm at the point where if a $6 game makes me happy for an hour, I consider it a win.

Re: Steam's Deals of the Day/Weekend/Midweek
I have a similar attitude. If I spend $20 on something like 25-30 games in bundles, and then one of them gets my attention for a few hours, then I'm running just about the same play rate as I ever have, back when I would legitimately consider buying $50 games. In 1990s dollars.Smoove_B wrote:I'm at the point where if a $6 game makes me happy for an hour, I consider it a win.
By the way carpet_pissr, as for the changing attitude towards adventure games, the one that really gets me is that I can no longer stand 20 minute non-branching conversations before I can get back to the backtracking. It makes me sad that so much of the current Longest Journey and Broken Sword games bore me in that regard. I even find the first Edna & Harvey game (typical of Daedalic) nearly unplayable because they have a unique voice-acted response for almost every nonsensical combination you can make in the massive inventories, and I feel the need to hear EVERY ONE and get nowhere.
Conversely, I cannot explain how much I loved Contradiction, a game that is ironically ALL conversations but completely built around trial and error and backtracking and it's too short.
i just don't know what I want anymore. But chances are that I own it and don't realize it.
I have but one advocate.

Re: Steam's Deals of the Day/Weekend/Midweek
After a solid 30 minutes, Broforce is like Terraria meets a crazy 80s action movie. Lots of chuckles, explosions, falling things and total chaos. Also, if MacBrover doesn't make you laugh, nothing will. It's pretty impressive how they manage to nail characters with the pixel art - they're instantly recognizable.
