Bad week so far. I hurt my foot while jogging. I hope to make it to a shoe store today to look at better and better fitting shoes after my infusion. I also had a fit of calorie counting weakness ate a whole pack of cookies and a sleeve of crackers beyond my daily intake. The first time I've blow my count since the Tiger game when a barely blew it because my stomach didn't want the increased volume even as I wanted more food. Last night, my stomach was fine and I took in a total of 4550 delicious calories about 1900 more than I should have. As a result, I think I'm going to drop my maintain weight down to 186 to reduce that temptation in the future.

I'm a big believer in setting one day every week or two as a no-limits day. It makes it so much easier to resist the regular urges if they're not the forbidden fruit. Desperate for pizza? Ok, I'll have pizza on my next free day, five days from now. With the pizza no longer forbidden, the temptation is more manageable, and it's not terrible for your body to get that excess now and then, either.

With my increased activity that went along with losing weight, I can eat a typical "large" one topping pizza every day now and still have 500 calories left over for other foods. 2500-2700 calories a day should be enough but just being on budget make my lifestyle food centric and I'm still pretty much always hungry. The good news is I'm still toning (and still losing weight, albeit slowly and unnecessarily) If my weight starts pushing 170 or my spare tire and flabby ass and moobs are noticeably missing (and it's getting pretty close), I'll up my documented activity level from semi active to active which should move by baseline from 2400 to 2700 calories a day and I assume it will move my "step bonus" from 7250 to 10000 steps and probably maintain 3 calories for every 100 steps over.

I'm not good with the idea of cheat days or "this or that don't really count or can slide". I commit to things or I don't. Once I stop committing, everything goes to hell. That's part of why I joined this thread (again). By verbalizing my commitment to anyone, really, it becomes real. That's how I "quit" smoking and how I stay active... 8 years later, and I still want to smoke, but at least it's not every day and for too much of that every day. I'm totally an addict. I still dream about the pleasure of smoking and what it does for focus and relaxation.

Thanks to covid, I saw 179.5 on the scale this morning. It won't stick, but that's the first time I've seen a number below 180 in years and years.

It's been an eventful weight week. I hurt my foot while jogging, bought new shoes, and my feet are now having other problems. So I'm glad my weekly jogging goal is "only" 5000 steps. I'll be reeling it in for a while, I think. I had a night of weakness and ate a whole package of cookies and sleeve of Ritz taking my one of may daily intakes up to almost 5000 calories. It was a good night but I slept horribly and my weight shot up 5 pounds in two days to 184. As a result I'm taking my maintenance goal down to 186. I did manage to cut nearly 2000 calories out of my next three days intake to keep weekly shortfall.

Three pounds in one week? That's crazy! Thanks, covid, for delivering my first official reading below 180 in years and years. I think Paxlovid might be an appetite suppressant. I finished the course yesterday and am testing now to confirm that I'm free and clear.

Another good week. I'm crediting the rowing, which I've now been doing 3-4 times a week in 20 minute sessions for 7 weeks straight. It's not a huge decrease on the scale, but I'm definitely seeing positive changes in the mirror. Each session burns around 300 calories so it adds up. Starting running back this week as well which will hopefully help me break that 200 barrier.

Nice that all I have to do is look in the mirror to my left to confirm that I'm still too fat. At least it's an almost constant reminder which can only be a good thing.

Jogging is down because I'm trying to rest my foot. Steps are beginning to trend down because I'm crazy tired. They restarted infusions. I'm not sure if it's coincidence or correlation. If I continue down this path, I may ask to stop real treatment for crone's and just ask to remain on a stool firmer. I don't want to sleep 12 hours every day and be tired for 4 or more of my waking hours.

What is a Maintenance Weight Goal and what is the difference between that and just a weight goal?

When I was losing weight I was trying to go down to hit a weight goal. At my heaviest, I was 270 and my goal was to get down to 189. Now that I am down to between 178 and 184, my maintenance weight goal is 186. As I approach 186 on upswings, I adjust my calorie intake. When I was losing weight, toward the end, I was consuming around 2000 calories a day with enough exercise. 1800 without. Currently I'm consuming around 2700 calories per day with enough exercise 2400, without to maintain my weight, with the goal of converting fat to muscle, rather than losing both fat and muscle to slim down. I try not to redline my budget as I am wont to do as I go up.

I've never been a vanity person, but boy or boy, the loose and wrinkly skin from waiting until my 50s and hitting a 44 inch waist before putting myself in a position to take care of my health.... Blech. I'm down to a 34 and my gut bulging into my chest is down to spare bicycle tire but I've got an old frog's neck and flabby everything. Ah well. At least I have no one to impress.

Negligible bump this week. Not concerned since I had to eat out most of the weekend due to being away from home. I'll take it.

I'm not keeping track day to day anymore, nor am I keeping up with it here, as I'm not quite so active in my weight loss as I was.

From ~2020 to around 2022 I went from 313 down to 260. I then gained some back starting a couple of years ago when things went kind of sideways around here, money got short, and my mind wasn't really on what I was eating and/or doing.

I've been slowly losing again. I'm down to 246 now, 67 pounds down from where I started (and about 87 down from my highest ever.)

With my build, I'll be happy when I hit 210, although 200 would be better. The 'calculators' put my ideal weight at around 170, but those don't take build into account. With my build (I'm a mesomorph), 200 is about right - and I haven't weighed that since high school. At 170, I'd look like a skeleton. I'm 6'1" with a 'football player' build, with wide shoulders, wide chest, heavy legs - especially my thighs, which used to be solid muscle when I was in my teens. It's misleading - I look like I'm strong, but it's all just how the fat hangs on me.

We're in that frustrating season that brings one day of walkable weather, then a second day that's a little better...then a week of Nope. I'm optimistic about weight loss prospects this year once I can walk regularly, though, since I avoided (so far) my usual spring gain.

Another bump but as long as I'm staying within 2 pounds either way of 200 I'm not overly concerned. I probably should pick a better time for weigh-ins or go back to averages, as I tend to run much lower than the Monday morning post-Sunday dinner weight would imply.

Touched 176 this week, which is much too rapid weight loss when I'm trying to convert fat to muscle rather than just losing weight any more. Though at the same time, I got disappointed when my wight went back up to 178.5. Nothing makes me happy, :p Really I'm not sure where I want my weight to be. I'm very happy sub 180 but I'm much more concerned about my over health than my weight and I fear weight loss comes with loss of muscle mass, especially after a hernia surgery and having my still incredibly weak right arm with one or two more surgeries scheduled.

While I haven't been posting in these threads, the struggle is real.

Could we have a miracle tea?
kombucha tea may be able to deliver the benefits of fasting, without the hardest part – the fasting itself. Researchers found that when the yeasts and bacteria from the fermented, sweetened tea colonized the gut, they altered fat metabolism, without any other dietary changes, resulting in lower fat stores...

...researchers from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill have discovered how, in Caenorhabditis elegans, kombucha's microbes directly influence intestinal gene expression, particularly in those linked to fat metabolism. The introduced flora boosted the proteins needed to break down fat, while conversely they helped dial down the formation of proteins that help build the lipid (or fat) compounds known as triglycerides.

My shitty diet has me going in the wrong direction this year. I'm up to 214 (from 205). Trying to turn that around and get back down to 205 by August.

Down to 240.8.
90 day sugar now counts starting jan 5, right after i started my diet.
My 90 average is at 117.
I think it was around 190-220 at the 90 day mark begore the diet.
Staying strong for the most part.
Still a ways to go for my main goal of 200.
Looking forward to my next A1C in a couple of months.
Speaking of. Does anyone know how long it would take to go from 7 to 5 or less if I keep on top of my sugar and keep the average at sub 120?

I've been trying all things fermented, so I'll give kombucha a try too. I'm a little tired of sauerkraut.

Touched 175 this week. I don't really want to lose any more weight, so I'm debating moving my calorie intake basis to super duper active lifestyle, which I do not lead. I don't mind losing more weight long term but I am trying to build muscle and stamina/energy and I fear the I am defeating that intent by losing more weight at this point. I upped my aerobic stepping to 12 minutes a pop. I was debating upping my jogging to 1100 steps a pop and revising my maintenance weight goal to 185 but I want to hold steady on everything until my next surgery come the third week of May when it all drops down and I have to work back up to 10000 steps a day again and reset my PT goals.

I broke under 175 this morning, and I'm past the point where I don't want to lose weight but rather recapture muscle so I'm upping my intake to crazy high active and I'll monitor consumption at around 3000 calories a day. I don't think I'm that active but I am hungry all of the time and I'm still trying to build my activity level.

Can you tell me where you adjust that?

I started using the app this week and have stuck to what the goal was for the day. Every time I check the next morning it tells me I ended a certain number of calories below the goal because of my activity for the day. It's very small right now - in the range of 100-150 - because I've been concentrating on the eating part and am not purposefully exercising (just walking around the plant for my normal job - which still adds quite a few steps), but I plan to start running next week and am not sure how that will be factored in. I did connect my smart watch to the app, so it gets to see my range of activity.

Because I don't pay for the app, I don't have advance features. I can adjust my activity level in the on the goals tab>Edit>Budget>Activity Level

Running will still be step count (which is what I go by) unless you manually add exercise or synch the app to an exercise input, which I don't.

Much changed this week. I was hoping to wait until after my surgery for much to change but 1) I hurt myself doing yard work on Monday and 2) My weight went below 175 I really don't want to lose any more weight. I want to build muscle and have energy and not hurt myself. As a result, I upped my activity to extremely active so I can hit 3000 calories a day intake without getting a negative checkmark in my tracker for going over my intake. I want/need that psychological boost, as silly as it is. I'm not extremely active, so i will monitor. Hurting myself, I can't do aerobic walking or jogging at the moment. When I try I aggravate my arm/shoulder/chest pretty badly. This really hurts my extremely active setting, so I will monitor. I have about an 11 pound leeway between my current weight and 185, so I can put on a few pounds before being concerned about eating too much. Getting old sucks (especially a full year after getting hit by a car). A week of taking it easy after one day of working, not really that hard, and I'm still in too much pain. <harumph> Two days is all used to take to bounce back.

But if nothing else, weight loss has worked and I'm very happy with this metric. 175 (or 174) is thin enough, even if I still have a spare bicycle tire, and it's the high side of middling for BMI. As long as I build muscle and keep the fat off, I would have not problem putting on weight all the way back to 189.

Dang it, here's that weight spike that I see every spring. Thought this year might be different, but nope. At least I know from long experience that I will turn it around within the next few weeks.

Not going to rack up much mileage this week because I'm painting the porch and otherwise summerizing the yard. I can only dedicate so much time to physical activity each day.
