Anticipated 2024 Releases - what are you excited for?
I just went through what Gamespot says is coming in 2024 and was pretty disappointed. 2023 turned out to be a pretty amazing year. I'm hoping the rest of you can inspire me with something coming in 2024 because so far... I got close to nothing.
Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered (PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, PC) - February 14 - Vaguely interested if it looks good enough
Dragon's Dogma 2 (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC) - March 2 Probably skipping it as my attempt to replay the original did not end well.
Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl (Xbox Series X|S, PC) - September 5
What are they missing or what I am overlooking that I shouldn't?

Re: Anticipated 2024 Releases - what are you excited for?
Heck, I still haven't finished Elden Ring, Hogwarts, BG3, etc. Also, Witcher 3.
I'm anticipating enjoying working on my AAA backlog!
(so, what did I play over the weekend, while it was stormy in NorCal? Slay the Spire and Rollerdrome. I just didn't want to try to get up to speed on a big project game...
But, I wouldn't mind a Tomb Raider game that *isn't* open world/crafting dependent (I'm a bit sick of open world games - I get bored, drop the game, and then don't want to have to re-learn controls and story), tho didn't they already re-do at least 1 when they did Anniversary?

For me:
Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth (PS5) and Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail (PC)
However, there are always surprises and games that fly completely under the radar until suddenly everyone is playing them.

Re: Anticipated 2024 Releases - what are you excited for?
Interestingly, I saw someone say somewhere they thought 2023 was a weak year for releases, but I agree with you. I think 2023 was a rebound year, with many big releases after a middling 2022 and 2021 due to Covid.
I think Dragon's Dogma 2 is the only one that I'm really looking forward to. And of course, there are bound to be plenty of unannounced surprises that will become must-buys.

Re: Anticipated 2024 Releases - what are you excited for?
Very little on my current radar for this year, tbh.
- Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is easily my most anticipated game of the year.
- Will definitely be checking out Dragon's Dogma 2.
- The next Final Fantasy XIV xpac, of course
- Probably EA's College Football game
- If Last Epoch ever gets out of EA
That's about it.

We had SO much fun with Solium Infernum here, that I'm thinking the remake might pull me back in. Due out next week...

Homeworld 3 demo incoming!
I had fun with the few missions I did in Homeworld remastered, but never finished it...This is only available for a week, but is not strictly part of the Steam Next Fest, as the Windows demo is available on the Epic Games Store in addition to Steam. Here's the Demo Announcement Trailer and here's a bit from the announcement post:
This demo, available to all Steam players starting February 5 at 10am PT until February 12 at 10am PT, supports up to three players as they engage waves of hostiles in a series of increasingly challenging encounters. Players can find teammates through Quick Match or create a lobby to team up with friends online.
It’s important to note that any Fleets or Artifacts you unlock in the War Games demo will carry over when Homeworld 3 launches.

Officially they're both slated for 2024 releases (I checked before I added them). Sure, there's plenty of time for them to be delayed, but that's true for any game that isn't actually released yet. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

STALKER 2 (obviously)
Into the Radius 2 (also obvious for anyone that pays attention)
Beyond those, I don't know. I'm not much of an earlier adopter. So it would probably be more helpful to ask me what 2023 releases I'm excited for.

This. So much this. I had hoped this was going to be an XBOX Series X launch title, and I’ve been waiting on it ever since. Got the option to pre-install earlier this week, so it must be close. Can’t wait.

STALKER 2
Baldur's Gate DLC
Satisfactory
Prison Architect 2 (shamefully pessimistic)
Pacific Drive (guardedly optimistic)
I'll add that I expect to eventually get into Cities Skylines 2, in 2024 - but it needs some help still.

Re: Anticipated 2024 Releases - what are you excited for?
For the record, I am certainly looking forward to Satisfactory going 1.0 but it doesn't really count for me since I have played 100s of hours already.
Also, if an Elden Ring DLC drops I will definitely come back for that.
I didn't see Expeditions: A Mudrunner game in the article, but it comes out in March I believe and I think that will keep my attention for a bit. One of my kids bought it for me already.
I guess Indiana Jones and Star Wars Outlaws will get a look from me depending on reviews. Can add Avowed to that list of games that may release at some point.

By this reasoning nobody should be anticipating any releases because any game can be pushed back at any time, so you should be mocking the existence of the entire thread.naednek wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 2:07 pmyes, they are listed, but you know it's going to get pushed at least once:)

I think 2024 is already off to a pretty good start with Enshrouded, Palworld, Helldivers 2, Empyrion Dark Faction DLC and especially the release of the modding tools for JA3 which I think will result in a lot of great content and lost hours later this year.
My short list of releases/DLCs/Significant Updates:
- Satisfactory 1.0
- Factorio 2.0
- Stalker 2
- Homeworld 3 (assuming the tactical pause is there - confirmed in demo available on Steam)
- Final Factory
- Zephon
- Fragile Existence
- Co-Op expansion for Rift Breaker
- Modding Tools release and DLC for Starfield
- long awaited update for 7 Days to Die mod "Undead Legacy"
- Dyson Sphere part II of Dark Fog update (space combat)

Re: Anticipated 2024 Releases - what are you excited for?
My anticipated games won't excite anyone, but I'm rarely an AAA / New Release type of game player.
I'm looking forward to the Suikoden I & II Remasters too.
I have Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes (the Suikoden spiritual successor) pre-ordered.
I'll probably buy the new MLB:The Show and/or the new OOTP.
Football, Tactics & Glory: World is a soccer "sequel" coming this summer.
And I have some low profile type games listed on my Steam wishlist, that have probably never been mentioned here. (News Tower looks interesting and comes out in EA next week).
But it will most probably be another year of backlog play, session/repeatable games, MMO phases and emulated nostalgia RPGs.

Re: Anticipated 2024 Releases - what are you excited for?
I was initially interested in this. However, I tried the version that's out now, Eiyuden Chronicles Rising, that is some sort of prequel(?) and came away entirely unimpressed. Felt like a hundred other bland, generic, low-budget JRPGs on the market.
Maybe the full version is something different, but the "Rising" version certainly didn't impress.
