Dune: Imperium

Post by El Guapo »

I just found out the other day that Steam has a computer game version of the Dune: Imperium board game. Dune:Imperium is a great game - it's a fun four player deck-building card game involving (obviously) each player competing for control of Arrakis. As you go you add cards to your deck representing Dune characters and assets (Lady Jessica, Sardaukar infantry, etc.) and build alliances with the various Dune factions.

It has a PBEM format. Anyone interested in playing a game?

FWIW this is currently just the base game, though they are going to add the expansions eventually as I understand it.

I would be interested once they add the expansions. It's a great game but at this point I don't think I could play without Rise of Ix.

Yeah, I've played a few games, and won a little under half. The AI is definitely competitive (at least so far).

So every now and then I consider buying the board game version but I'm trying to cut back on board game purchases. But in addition to the PC version there's an iPad version so the only space it will be taking up is memory! Downloaded it and time to play some tutorials. The spice must flow...

works for me then.

Finding a block of time to play a game in a single sitting would be difficult for me, but I would be interested in an async game.

Yeah, it's just the base game. I believe that they are going to add the expansions (presumably as DLC).

I put a game up - "ElGuapo's Game". Should show up if you go to online play and make sure that it's displaying "Password Games". The password is LaPlaya

The game is set up for 3 players, one AI, since I think it's you me, and Archinerd. If a fourth person wants to play just let me know and I'll reset it as a four (human) player game.

This digital game is excellent. The AI is really tough. i have played seven games on Medium and I have only won one and two others i lost on the last turn. I think this game is solid without expansions. The more I play it, the better I love it.

Yeah, it looks like a game only stays up for something like 24 - 48 hours before expiring, which is annoying. I'll put it back up (password "game"), and can everyone join sometime today / this evening?

I’ve got an iPad and a cross-country flight on Thursday returning from a work trip. Looks like I know what I’ll be doing! Thanks for the heads-up! 😀

Game seems to be gone already. Does anyone else see it? I really can't fathom in the slightest why the games seem to expire / disappear so quickly after getting set up, which is especially bizarre for an async game where the whole point is that people aren't online at the same time. Do I need to coordinate everyone to be online around the same time in order to start the game?

ok, new plan. Since apparently the games expire after 12 hours, I'm going to put up the game around 2 pm eastern. So if everyone could join at some point this evening, then I can start the game before going to bed.
