New Ghost tune dropped over the weekend and I completely missed it. Love this one.

I really like Archspire. Not typically my type of music, but these guys are incredible musicians. Been looking forward to a new album which has seemed like forever.

Aquilus' 2011 debut album "Griseus" was an absolute masterpiece of symphonic metal. It's a truly stunning piece of work.

The long-awaited follow up is due out in December, and they released the debut track yesterday. I don't often get goosebumps when listening to music, but have to admit this one did it for me.

Cannot wait for this album.

Watch the beginning at least -- I would love to go to Denmark and attend one of their concerts

I forgot to call it "a box of pure malevolent evil, a purveyor of
insidious insanity, an eldritch manifestation that would make Bill
Gates let out a low whistle of admiration," but it's all those, too.

Feuerschwanz' new one is some awfully catchy and very silly folk metal. I believe the title roughly translates to "Undead in Dragonboat"

I kinda love it.

As much of a Danny Elfman fan as I am, that song did nothing for me.

Danny Elfman - Big Mess

i know a few Boingo/soundtrack fans who are not into this due to the musical direction (usually some kind of a Tool/Mr. Bungle/King Crimson mk. IV-inspired hard rock) - i certainly did not expect that. also at 71 minutes a long album (divided into two parts and i recommend breaking it up that way). lyrically, Elfman is certainly at his most biting and sarcastic here. there is at times a lot to unpack here, sonically, and i think it will hold up to repeat listens. don't miss the 'cover' of Oingo Boingo's "Insects" at the end.

ALL the Chopin, lately.

I'm in a blue funk lately, and NOBODY does the blues like that bastard did. Makes BB King seem like Barney.

His music is gorgeous, and brilliant, but my GOD is it depressing. Hell, it should have legal disclaimers about suicide like some movies and TV series do (and some games). :P

LOVE the music though, if that wasn't clear.

This song (and video) cracks me up. I can't decide whether it's so bad it's good, or it's so bad it's just bad.

The album this was on came out 42 years ago today. He was so far ahead of everyone and his death still bothers me.

Wrote the entire album when he was 19. I mean, really.

Geez, I expected to be disgusted or mildly amused. I didn't expect to have my life changed.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

I'm hopelessly out of touch with recent music.

I just read a biography of J S Bach, and I decided that I'm going to listen through all of Bach's extant works in catalog order (just so I know where I am). I'm up to BWV 8 now. Should be a multi-year project.

Also, via hearing one of their songs on a Letterkenny episode yesterday, I'm now fascinated with this Quebecois prog band, Harmonium. I imagine a few of you already know them, but they really hit the sweet spot for my listening taste.

While I expected to have the new Archspire on repeat today, I can't stop listening to the new Burial album. It's just filthy, and has the best cover art of the year.

I was at Disco Demolition, the Gotterdammerung of Disco. It really did die after it. Best White Sox game I ever attended, and that includes a rather remarkable World Series game.

I used to own a company that setup sound and lights for bands, back in the days when most clubs and festivals didnt supply them.
I did a KC show once,
I spent hours rigging the light scaffolds.
10 minutes before the show I get summoned to the backstage area to get screamed at by him for having green filters on some of the lights.
He said they made him look black....???
Well, maybe if he attended sound check he would have seen them.......
So I scramble to unload the ladder and change them out.
Fuck that white boy......lol.

Front Line Assembly - Wake Up the Coma [2019]
i have to say FLA's output is regaining something of its former level of quality over the past few albums.
has Robert Görl (D.A.F) and Chris Connelly making guest appearances, but an unexpected one with Nick Holmes (Paradise Lost) and unexpected cover of Falco's "Rock Me Amadeus" (with Jimmy Urine of Mindless Self Indulgence on vocals).

This cover almost ruined this entire album for me. I thought it was shockingly bad, and sat in the middle of the album like a turd in the punch bowl. I skipped over it every time before, doubly so after reading about what a colossal twat he is (he got accused of sexual battery of a minor last summer)

Their album from earlier this year (Mechanical Soul) was pretty good. They also just announced a spring US tour last week.

This is the least surprising expose of a sexual offender ever.

Based on what I've heard on the first two tracks released, the new Wilderun album in January is going to be something really special.

New one dropped this morning.

I can't get enough of this new album from 200 Stab Wounds. Stupid band name, but the album is a blast. Unabashedly wears it's old-school death/gore metal heart on it's sleeve. Cannibal Corpse worship done right.
