Will Eisner, RIP

Post by hentzau »

Washington Post article...

Man, this bums me out almost as much as when Jack Kirby died. When I was a young lad, after having just discovered comics, my grandfather handed me a great big box of comics that were "returns", where the top half of the cover was ripped off to show the books that were being destroyed as returns. And man, what a cornucopia of comics it was, including several Vaughn Bode comics (an interesting education for a young man) and my favorites, several Will Eisner "Spirit" comics. The thing that got me with those stories were his title pages...where the words "The Spirit" were printed out in unusual ways.

Gonna go dig up "A Contract With God" now and do some bedtime reading.
