I was thinking about Starman yesterday (as I was going through a yellow light) and how it's one of those movies I watched a lot on cable back in the day and still quote from time to time. I thought about it from the screenshots but figured it was probably just my recency bias making me think it was that movie.

What's funny is that Starman had an extensive Twitter moment yesterday. It went like this:

1) Someone praised Jordan Peele's new movie NOPE and incidentally dissed John Carpenter for some reason.
2) Peele himself slid into the discourse with massive praise for John Carpenter. Fanatic enthusiasm ensued.
3) Everyone started talking about Carpenter's range and how it extended beyond horror to things like Starman.

The Prestige is total garbage. Seriously. If you accidentally saw The Prestige, and then passed on The Illusionist, you owe it to yourself to give it a look.
