My oldest daughter has announced she’s always been a fan of My Chemical Romance. So I played her some Blink 182 and she admitted liking them too. No wonder she’s gone deep into emo at 13.

One of the things I regret most about not having children (not that it's too late; but it probably won't, and shouldn't, happen) is that I won't have anyone to share all the cool things like with.

Some of my parents' tastes diverge with mine sharply. But others were foundational for me and were a path to the much different things I enjoy and that interest me now.

I dunno man, a kinda think you gotta own the kid to be able to legally subject them to the amount of Captain Beefheart required to form a genuine fan.

My old Escort had one of those but the damned thing was in the trunk with no CD player in stereo. I fell out of love with the 6 CD changer pretty quick... My new Focus had an 1/8th inch jack and so my use of CDs pretty much ended in 2008. And then, maybe three or four years ago I reverted to radio and talk radio at that which has been a first for me. Whoda thunk? For my next car, if I fully embrace the smart phone to auto lifestyle, I'll probably find myself finally embracing podcasts or books on tape.

My last car, the Volvo, had a CD changer in the trunk. It jams easily. Just ended up not using it. It was too old to have aux, and FM transmitter keeps getting bad static. I ended up with a kludge solution: Bluetooth dongle connected to a cassette adapter. It worked well enough.

My car has cd player, but the slot is hidden behind the touch screen, which has a motor to fold it down to reveal the slot. so when I change discs I like to shout at it "shut you disc hole!"

The wifes car doesn't even have a cd player, like its some sort of Mac or something.

I remember in the 80s when cars started having cd changers in the trunk. I thought they were neat. Looking back thats not so good an idea.

Anyways mine is still jammed. Ive banged on both sides pretty hard which used to help when this happened. Not this time. Maybe a good pot hole. But dont want to risk the rest of my car for the cd changer. Ive seen some videos on how to remove it but thats a lot of steps and disassembly. Ill just listen to the radio and hope it sorts itself out.

One day if Im not too old Ill replace it with a unit that has a USB slot and will play MP3s off a thumb drive.

My lawn mower is screwing with me again. This time its the drive system. It has both rear wheel drive but one side decided to simply not help today. So half the time Im having to shove it and half the time its pushing to one side and Im pulling it to fix that. Most of the time its just spinning that one wheel. Without both engaged it wont go up a hill good. I think it was built by drunk peanuts in Russia.

Because of that my back is screaming at me. Would have been ok back in my opiate medicine days. Now not so much. Ive taken twice my limit if prescription ibuprofen, a bunch of Tylenol, and I usually take 3 muscle relaxers a day....Im about to take 7 at once right now. I wish medicine worked better on me but between my liver not metabolizing stuff good and over the counter stuff being shitty I stay in pain. On days I do anything Im in serious pain. But Im not going back on opiates. Yay me.

If there is a 2nd stimulus Im going to use some to fix the car and some to find a used riding mower. Which Im sure will give me as much trouble as this used push mower.

If we're talking mowers, I've been quite happy with my electric one since I got it. I no longer need ear plugs to mow and don't come inside reeking of exhaust fumes. They come in the self-propelled and push varieties (I push mine). The battery lasts ~45 minutes of mowing, which is enough to get 85% of my yard. An hour's charge (along with lunch) and I can finish it off. I've loved it.

We've actually migrated most of our yard tools to electric. Small chainsaws (corded and battery), extended branch cutter, weed whacker, leaf blower (corded). My snow blower is still gas, as is my big chainsaw. Sometimes there's just no good replacement for the power and longevity of fossil fuel tools.

I've done the same and been using an electric mower since about 2014. I really love it - but still use ear protection. No reason to risk that.

I don't recommend one for Daehawk. Besides the cost, the frequency of his ability to mow would not line up well with the mowers strengths. I actually recommend goats.

I wasn't thinking about the frequency - so yeah, an electric mower may not be a good fit... though I will admit to using my "weak" electric mower on tall weeds and grass to re-create an overgrown pathway and it chewed through it like a champ.

This one is different for some reason. Its really good. No complaints at all. I ate half as it came and half with Tabasco Green Jalapeno hot sauce. Great both ways. Im stuffed.

Can anyone here help tell me what I just saw go down at my neighbor's house?

Context: Neighbor is a couple in there early 60s, both seemingly healthy...

A large white, unmarked 'mega van' (Like Amazon uses for some of it's deliveries) pulled up on the street outside our house.

A driver gets out, mask on - bright orange 'safety vest' on... goes to the back of the truck and opens the back door. He retrieves a bright orange (hunter safety color) 5 gal plastic bucket.

He walks up the driveway of my neighbors with this orange bucket swinging by his side... I can tell it is basically empty, by the way in which it swings when he walks with it.

As he gets to our neighbors porch - I can no longer see him out my front door, as he's basically now at the front door of my next door neighbor and I'm looking straight out my door...

I briefly wonder what this guy would be going up to our neighbor's house with a single empty bucket for, but no sooner do I have the thought - than I see him actually going back down the driveway, but now this orange bucket in his hands is obviouslly weighed down quite a bit...

It's full of something.

He goes to the back of his truck, puts the bucket in - and then drives away... I walk outside and step into my yard and look back to the front porch of the neighbor - and sure enough, there is an orange bucket sitting on his porch . I assume it's the empty one the guy brought up, ready to be filled and later picked up by this company....?
