lol

---------------------------

Ive spent the last hour looking up Six Flags Over Georgia info. I just realized its been just about 40 years since i got to go. I WISH Id gotten to visit more over my life. Im 55 now!!. I dont go to town never mind half a state away to an amusement park. I went in 85 and 86 when I was 16 and 17. Both times had a girl to be there with. One was great..the other turned out to not be lol. But only 2 times. Sad as hell it is.

Its also like $55 to get in. Then it was like $35 and that seemed high. I went both times on a church or group bus with other teens. I saw the Dahlonega Mine Train just now . That was one of my favorite rides. I saw the seats and wondered if they are the same I sat on...then realized that was 38 years ago so no lol..well maybe no..never know. :D

I have two of my best memories still.

Getting to the park and riding my first ride there with Jill. The Wheelie. I had never ridden anything like that. Its like a Ferris wheel thats really fast and the cars swing out then the whole wheel tilts almost if not vertical. At the top you're stuck to your seat by gravity. They stuck me in first and you straddle a bench. Then they put Jill in and she slid back against me. As the ride went on she got squished into me. Loved it :) Also her hair was flying every which way in my face. Another thing about Jill is she was my next door neighbor girl 2 houses up and Id never spoken to her before. It was out at my dad's and I was only there on weekends until I was 16...the year we went to Six Flags and she was on the bus. I guess thats why we hung out there. We had a BLAST that day. Ive seen a pic of her recently and she looks older but still great. As a teen she was gorgeous. . Her husband died about year after my wife and they'd been together as long as me and my wife.

Heres a pic of her from about 3 years ago. Wish I had one from back then. Just have to imagine her at 16.
Spoiler:
Image
Also that night as it got dark me, her. and my friend and some others off the bus bought a bunch of those plastic glow in the dark bracelets and necklaces. We lit up the bus lol. I put mine in the freezer when i got home and they kept their glow for a week just not as bright.

One little mem was riding down on the bus. A Lamborghini Countach passed us. I bout jumped out of my chair as I was totally in love with those cars.

Man I love those times and I love my memories. Just wish Id made many more. Yep living in the past. Best times of my lives was 1973-2019...although I love and am thankful for my little Buster dog...He keeps me sane. Without him Id be totally lost..so these aren't the WORST years.

EDIT: Heres The Wheelie at Six Flags Over Georgia..the one we rode. They replaced it a few years back but this Wheelie I think is in a Florida amusement park if Im not mistaken.

I just looked at group tickets for Six Flags...$47 so a little cheaper than individual. Maybe thats how it was back in the 80s too.

When we moved to the Phoenix area (have since moved back to Omaha), I searched for months in my field and had maybe four interviews in over a year and was only offered one position which was an entry level support position with Go Daddy. Third shift.

I eventually had to settle for a retail operation but that job went away when Covid hit.

Fortunately I fell into a pretty good job when we moved back to Omaha which, in turn, led to an even better job.

Job hunting sucks. I mean, if given the choice of job hunting for more than a month or being set on fire and having the fire kicked out by an angry motorcycle gang, well, here's some lighter fluid and a match.

I had post and deleted something similar. Valley speak was never a thing here except for a movie curiosity. And by 87 words like gnarly were used as and expression of teen cynicism, like Bitchin' and used about as often. I had to tell myself that the post was trying to reference "the 80s" and that I was 10 in 1980, so maybe that slang was a thing and I was too young to see it (I don't think so, but maybe). OtOH, by the very early, 90s we were adopting other movie curiosity stuff. "Fuck me gently with a chainsaw" as example was acceptable young adult parlance.

I also saw that and said no way. that disappeared here around 1983 and ti was never big. Just because of the movie Valley Girl. Now gnarly was popular still due to just how great Fast Times at Ridgemont High was. In fact I just re watched it the other month.

I think I mentioned this before but has anyone noticed delivery orders from Walmart usually you ge ta LOT of bent and dented cans? They can be dented on the sides or top or bottom..anywhere. Id been noticing this and now im seeing complaints and bad reviews from others with the same thing. They say the Walmart shoppers for your order plain suck.

But Im in the camp that thinks they do this on purpose. I think Walmart tells them to do it to get rid of cans and items that a normal shopper in store wouldn't buy due to the damage. So they make money and crap. Ive never gotten one so bad I threw away or was bad. Just annoying..so far.

Been craving clam chowder. got Progresso brand from Walmart. Do not recommend. Very bland. its nice and thick and full of potatoes but only a few specks of clam meat and seems unsalted. has almost no taste. I added salt and a lot of black pepper which helped a good bit. Then added Old Bay which really helped. Also a little Tabasco.

I recently had a craving for clam chowder too. I ate a can of campbell's. It was pretty good. I can only imagine how good they have it on the East coast where it's more of a fresh staple. Needs lots of pepper. New England clam chowder tends to be a bit on the bland side in general, and mass produced versions take that a bit too far.

As someone living in the heart of New England clam chowder territory, I can confidently say that there's nothing bland about it when done correctly... just creamy, clammy goodness.

A dozen Tufts lacrosse players were diagnosed with a rare muscle injury
A dozen Tufts University men’s lacrosse players have been diagnosed with a rare muscle injury after participating in a voluntary, supervised 45-minute workout that the team conducted, a university spokesperson said Friday.

Five of the players who have been diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis remained hospitalized Friday, according to Patrick Collins director of media relations for the school.

The workout on Monday was led by a graduate of the university who had completed Navy SEAL training.

Rhabdomyolysis is a rare muscle injury where a person’s muscles break down, according to the Cleveland Clinic. It’s a life-threatening condition that can happen after an injury or excessive exercise without rest.

I watched the alternate ending to terminator 2. It seemed do futuristic looking the world that was supposed to be 2027. It was supposed to be Sarah talking about it in 1997..which was in fact 1991. Lol.

The country's look changed a lot from 1900 - 1930. Then from 1930 - 1960 again it changed. and Finally 1960 - 1990 was a noticeable change in look. But I dont really see a difference since 1990s. Looks the same to me.

Many people don't know that that there was an alternate ending in Terminator 2: Judgement Day, the Terminator franchise could not continue in this way with Terminator 2's alternate ending. The other ending is voiced-over by Sarah Connor and confirms that Judgment Day never happened as a futuristic skyling comes into view. Now 30 years in the future, Sarah reflects on her reaction to that day as she sits in the park recording a message. She's watching a grown-up John, who became a U.S. Senator in this future, play with his daughter.

Today I learned that one of the earliest collaborations between Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak allegedly involved Jobs getting Wozniak to do the actual work, then screwing him over on the payout.
Breakout was released in April 1976, selling at an MSRP of $1095.

Nolan Bushnell put out the word at Atari that he would pay anyone who could design the game and reduce the number of ICs that it used, $100 per IC removed from the design. Steve Jobs, at the time a low-paid technician at Atari, accepted the challenge. He originally attempted to work on the design himself, but soon found himself in way over his head. He then brought in his friend Steve Wozniak, who liked to hang out at Atari and playtest the new games as they rolled off the assembly lines.

Woz and Jobs stayed up for four days working on the design. Woz would work on the game at night, take a small catnap, go to work at his day job at Hewlett-Packard, and then return home at night to resume work on the design. In the end, Woz reduced the design down to 42 ICs, and both he and Jobs contracted mono from staying up for four days straight working on it. Jobs received a $5,000 bonus and told Woz it was only $700 and gave Steve Wozniak his '50%'... $350.

Years later this truth would come out and it would add to the already increasing friction between the two which eventually lead to Steve Wozniak quitting Apple. Meanwhile at Atari, the Breakout design was ingenious, however no one could figure it out so production could not begin. Al Alcorn says about Woz's design, "It was remarkable... a tour de force. It was so minimized, though, that nobody else could build it. Nobody could understand what Woz did but Woz. It was this brilliant piece of engineering, but it was just unproduceable. So the game sat around and languished in the lab".

In the end, Alcorn assigned another engineer to redesign the game so that it was more easily replicated. The final game had about 100 ICs.

As bucket and snap traps have failed, we have switched to glue traps. Four mice have been evicted over the last two evenings, three of which were relocated to grassy surroundings a couple of blocks away. The fourth was ... less than pleasant. And yet there are still more...

Have you figured out where they're coming in yet? The thing with rodents is they communicate through scent so if one has identified a path inside, it'll be clearly "marked" for other rodents to notice and potentially use. The trapping will be endless until you can stem the actual intrusion. I know that part isn't easy - I've had a few difficult situations in trying to figure them out myself. If we were neighbors I'd offer drop by and poke around; rodents can be relentless once they get a foothold.

Just another reason to hate Jobs. I never liked the guy. never had anything against Woz. He has always seemed kind and caring and non stingy. I guess with these two it was the bad guy died before the good which is usually not the norm.

And a lack of sleep does not give you mono. It can increase your risk due to weakened immune system but you get mono by kissing or drinking from the same glass...its a touch and get bug. I got it around 11 or 12 from kissing a girl. All I recall when i had it I was walking up the road on a small hill from home and feeling so weak from it. Turned out I had mono. I think dad was proud lol.

Number five bit me through the glove and drew blood. Doctor Google says they don't transmit rabies to humans, and there was no indication of abnormal behavior.

I'm pretty sure they dug a hole into my attic in the deck. I need to get the ladder up there and confirm and put some flashing over the hole, if that is indeed the place. They created a nice exit behind my stove and have been ransacking the bread rack, so I get to try my hand at drywall repair there as well.

Doctor Google LOL. Technically any mammal can transmit rabies, though in all of my experience I cannot recall ever hearing about a rabid mouse or rodent. Cow? Absolutely. But not a mouse.

They're excellent climbers so if you can also figure out how they're getting to the attic - like jumping from a tree branch, eliminate that as well. For the hole behind your stove, I would humbly suggest holding off on actual long term repair until you can fully exclude them; they'll just chew through it again. Instead I would suggest getting yourself some steel wool (without soap) and pack the hole with that instead. I keep plain SOS pads around for this purpose, but if you need a larger amount (like in your attic) and/or the hole in your kitchen is bigger you can usually buy bundles at places like Home Depot or any other hardware store. I think they sell them for cleaning grills (so they're larger chunks) but they're excellent for rodent exclusion because they can't chew through them at all.

Straight up the deck support, as far as I know. And I need to replace the soffit board that either they or the squirrels were nesting on at the corner of the house. Trying to do that without removing the gutters should be fun.
