Yeah that's just exciting to see a show like that. I was thinking, "they're back!" the whole time. Can't wait for the rest of the season.

Re: [TV] Community is Streets Ahead!
I was impressed that they didn't go with the obvious and make the ass crack bandit's notes based on Ben Folds Five lyrics considering that Ben Folds played the eccentric Botany teacher. Usually cameos like that play up the stunt casting aspect, not downplay it (see the annoying Stevie Nicks appearance on American Horror Story: Coven this week...in which she has not one, but two embarrassing singing scenes).

Procedural crime movies/shows with a bunch of David Fincher stylings a la Seven. The opening credits logo was taken from the Criminal Minds tv show.

Ah, thanks. I knew the opening had to be an explicit reference but couldn't place it. Having never seen Criminal Minds, that makes more sense. Loved all the Seven references thoughhepcat wrote:Procedural crime movies/shows with a bunch of David Fincher stylings a la Seven. The opening credits logo was taken from the Criminal Minds tv show.

I would say Community is probably not the show for you and the missus then as the overwhelming consensus from almost all fronts is that it was a return to greatness for the series.

Re: [TV] Community is Streets Ahead!
Just got around to watching the last episode on my DVR.
Stunned at how great that was. So many laugh out loud moments.
Truly back to form, and I wasn't even complaining about the last season (or however long Harmon was out of the picture)! But this one...sheesh. This one requires another watching methinks, to get everything out of it. Simpsonesque in its delivery speed.
So Troy is back now? I thought we were losing that actor? (Thank God, if not, he is by far my favorite character)

I just realized that in season 2, one of Annie's election promises for student body president was the capture of the notorious Ass Crack Bandit.Carpet_pissr wrote:! But this one...sheesh. This one requires another watching methinks, to get everything out of it.

Just think, someone, somewhere had to ask another human being to write the lyrics to the score for that episode. I bet that conversation was hilarious.

That may have been one of the best episodes ever thanks the dialogue. Superb.

The ability to put that much heart and sentiment into that kind of comedy is amazing at times.

That was another classic episode. Not quite up to pillow fort level, but at least within that ballpark.hepcat wrote:The ability to put that much heart and sentiment into that kind of comedy is amazing at times.

Re: [TV] Community is Streets Ahead!
I was laughing so hard, my cat had to be somewhere else tonight. She couldn't understand why I was making so much noise and had to find a quieter room.
I was having a hard time figuring out where I had seen the dude in the "game" video, but then it hit me when he dropped the accent later that it was Vince Gilligan. And seeing Paul Williams telling Shirley "20 none thousand" started it all over again.
So many bust out loud moments for me in this episode. Been a while since Community had me laughing that hard.

I've really enjoyed this whole season, but last night's show was especially funny. I had tears a couple times last night from laughing.

Re: [TV] Community is Streets Ahead!
I watched and re-watched the PayDay rap scene 5 times I think. Wife (who was already sleeping when I started watching the show), was PISSED I was laughing so hard and waking up the whole house.
I couldn't help it, I was howling. I wonder how many takes it took them to film that because of other actors losing it.
"Barak Obama is SCAAARED of me,
cuz I don't swallow knowledge
and I spit it for free
Let me clear mah throat
AHH AHAHH HAA"
/mic drop

Re: [TV] Community is Streets Ahead!
Imma throw this out there and say that Payday rap may be The Funniest Moment in the history of the series. The only one I can think of that might compete is the "cat from nowhere" scene with Troy and Jeff in the basement, when Troy screams "Is someone THROWING it?!"

Almost too close to call. Any other nominations?

No one out there watching but me?! I can't believe there aren't any comments after that one last night!
Favorite scene: Dean impaling himself on Jeff's sword and the resulting "Good LORD" from Jeff in disgust.

It wasn't as good as the first D&D . It was still very good though. Loved Abed's meta talk about sequels.

Loved it but everything was over so quickly!!
I love Abed's reaction at the end -- I'm the dungeon master, I don't owe you anything. LOL

It was Ok, but nowhere near as good as the first D&D episode.
I think I laughed the most at Annie... "I take a moment to mourn the death of Crouton... then I look through her belongings."

DINGLEBERRY SMASH!!!
Also, I have to say, I'm not sure why they feel it's necessary to have an Old Guy (TM) as part of the ensemble. Chevy was ok to mediocre, and while the new, Old Guy (TM) is also ok (better, I think), there are so many other roles that would fit better, IMO.
I think David Cross would be perfect. And he could fill in very easily considering he's already been introduced to the group!

YESSSSSSS. April 3rd. If the Dean isn't Destro, I am going to be very disappointed.
