Windows Media Player problem

When I open up WMP for the first time after booting up, the resolution on my monitor gets jacked up. It's hard to describe what it looks like. Normally I run in 1024x768. When I fire up WMP, the display will switch to 640x480, but it appears that it's showing what would be the upper left 640x480 of the original 1024x768 desktop. Totally bizarre, and I can correct it by hitting CTRL-ALT-DEL and opening the Task Manager. Not a big deal, but it is annoying. Any ideas?

try uninstalling some of the codec packs.
