Crusader Kings Mod - AGOT: War of the Usurper

Postby Sepiche » Mon May 02, 2011 3:20 pm

So I've been watching the new Game of Thrones series on HBO lately and have been looking for a game that can scratch that itch. Of course the closest any game has come is Crusader Kings and lo and behold I find this recent (and still being updated) mod for the latest version of Dues Vult.

I won't be able to give it a spin until tonight, but it looks good enough I thought I'd post a link here.

That is pretty darn cool! I so want to go back and play CK again... but the low resolution and the game-crashing bugs are just too difficult to overcome.

I can't wait until CK 2 though, it looks like it is shaping up to be a very awesome game!

I wish you hadn't mentioned this!

I'm in the middle of another run through of JA2 (1.13) and I just purchased the new M&B. Add in CK and you have great time fillers I've ever encountered. On the other hand CK runs nicely on my current tablet PC and I'm going to be getting a new one at the end of the month so perhaps I can hold this mod out as something to play on the new tablet (along with FM 2010) since M&B would be horrible without a mouse.

Downloaded, installed, and played for a while last night to get a feel for the mod. So far it looks like a fantastic mod. I played through a fast 100 years as House Clegane and didn't see a single crash.

I read too late that the mod is intended for the lowest AI aggressiveness setting, so there were a lot of little wars getting declared constantly everywhere, but otherwise it was great fun to see all the characters from the books. There's even a faction of wights led by Cold Hands up in the north, the Kingsguard, the High Septon, the Nights Watch, plus a number of events like The Great Winter.

The downside of course is that it has a lot of the quirks and issues that always plagued CK, but overall it's a really professional looking, well done mod.

It also looks like the author has been inspired by the new show on HBO and has been making improvements and updates lately and has promised a new scenario soon that starts around the time
Spoiler:
Tommen takes the throne.
