So goofy I have to doubt its veracity. The "cheeseburger without cheese" has been done to death, not that there's any shortage of ignorant people. But anyone that dumb is unlikely to text with full sentences and punctuation.

Technically you could make a cheeseburger then remove the cheese. But there would likely be residual cheese grease on the burger. Then you could get into an existential discussion of what exactly "without" means.

I had some type of this problem at the drive thru of my local Hardees. I dont recall now how it went as I have a buzz to make me forget my water worries for the day......but I wanted a cheeseburger without onion or lettuce and the way they had their menu setup and the dullness of the kid on the speaker ended up giving me a plain hamburger nothing at all on it when I got home. frak.

I've ordered a "plain cheeseburger" at the drive through before and had the following exchange:

Me: One plain cheeseburger please

Drive-Thru: Do you want cheese on that?

Me: Yes? It's a cheeseburger

DT: Yeah, but you said you wanted it plain

So, yeah. I don't doubt this sort of thing still happens

I think that Cheeburger Cheeburger used to have something like that on their menus, back when they were still good. "We don't serve hamburgers but our chefs are known to occasionally make a Cheeburger with no cheese" or something like that.

I've been to many burger joints, including McDonalds and asked for two hamburgers only to be told they don't sell hamburgers just cheeseburgers.

At Wendy's it is the other way - I always have to state "Plain - no cheese". When one doesn't like cheese or other condiments, it is always worth making it abundantly clear. (My usual order is "Plain - no cheese - just the hamburger patty and the bun". This hasn't failed me in several years.)
