This is probably in conjunction with the release of the 1.5 update that rescales the map from 1:35 to 1:20, which adds a lot more terrain, roads and a city (Santa Maria) to the map.coopasonic wrote:30% off american truck simulator

... Steam Winter Sale Begins December 22
PayPal has announced the Steam Winter Sale will kick off December 22, bringing a ton of discounts with it. The UK branch of PayPal tweeted out the date and viewers had to share the tweet in order to reveal its full content.
We've got the scoop on the @steam_games #WinterSale. Tweet to reveal the start date!
— PayPal UK (@PayPalUK) December 19, 2016
The annual Winter Sale, along with other seasonal sales, usually bring significant discounts and a major increase in revenue.
Steam has transitioned away from offering Daily and Flash sales, which used to offer large temporary discounts within the sale period. It's not expected those transient deals will return this year.

Re: Steam's Deals of the Day/Weekend/Midweek
I know it's a bit late but I watched a let's play of this and it looks really cool. One player is the Slasher and the other players are trying to escape. The map I watched had 4 generators that the players had to repair to be able to open an escape route. During the repair, there was a light minigame and when you failed the slasher got to see your location. When the slasher found you he had to knock you down and then carry you to a hook where you would die in a minute or so unless another player came to pull you off the hook. There were different slashers with different abilities. It looked pretty cool, almost enough to get me to download and play... almost. (it seems like it would require voice chat to be any fun and since I mostly play after the house is asleep, that is generally a good way to drive my wife nuts)

Actually, while I haven't played in months, there is no voice chat. It works fine without it, though it makes it difficult to coordinate (some of the powers you can gain make it easier to spot other players). Mostly, the time when I really wanted to use it was when telling someone who didn't play well to stop "working with me" to fix a generator, because they kept messing up and drawing the attention of the slasher.coopasonic wrote:I know it's a bit late but I watched a let's play of this and it looks really cool. Maybe the guys I was watching were using some external voice chat. Playing in silence would be... interesting. Now I'm sad I didn't download when it was free to play.Defiant wrote: Actually, while I haven't played in months, there is no voice chat. Re: Steam's Deals of the Day/Weekend/Midweek
This is the first year where I'm only vaguely interested in even looking. I mean, it's habitual now, but I'm already playing a couple of games that have my attention, and there are very few 5-6 dollar deals on on games that I consider must haves, so that leaves me with 8-9 dollar deals on some nice to own games, and 10-20 dollar deals on the must haves.Smoove_B wrote:I mean...I don't need anything, but I always find something. It's pretty meh from my perspective. If I'm gonna spend 20 bucks on a game, it might as well be 30 or even 40 bucks. 20-30-40 bucks are all "real" money so I have to really want something to spend that kind of money, and if I really want something, then 30-40 bucks is not too much to pay.
I guess my point is that at 5 dollars I'll grab quite a lot, but at 10 not so much, and at twenty I won't buy anything that I wouldn't have bought at 40.
I'll keep an eye on things and there are a couple of 8-9 dollar deals that I'm seriously considering pulling the trigger on, but if they go off sale before I grab them I won't feel bad for having missed them.
If I sound like too much of a downer, here's some positive. My son has had a decent wad of money sitting in his steam account for months. I've been teaching him the benefits of delayed gratification and he, to his credit, has been very stingy with his money. CKII, HoIIV (or was it III?) and EUIV went on sale yesterday and despite having the money for them and wanting them for months, he waited until the sale started and bam, grabbed all 3 at great prices. He's very excited and I"m very excited for him. He's got 3 great games that he really, really wanted and he got them at great prices compared to what he was willing to spend on them.
Plus now I can borrow all 3 for my own use

Re: Steam's Deals of the Day/Weekend/Midweek
In the brief look I had yesterday, I noticed a lot of the $20 games on my Wishlist were 66-67% off. That put them around $6.59-6.79. I can't help thinking that a few years ago those would all have been 75% and $4.99. ~$1.50 isn't a big amount, obviously, but I can't help feeling that this is a shift to the new reality.
There were way fewer games on my list at 75% off. That used to be my go-to percentage. If a game hit 75%, then I was generally confident that it wouldn't go higher. Now? I don't know.

Re: Steam's Deals of the Day/Weekend/Midweek
This more or less sums up my feelings on gaming as well. Largely brought on by the huge sales they had before. Limited gaming budget. I can but 2-4 games in a year at $40-60 each. I can by a crapton of games at $5 or less. At the greatly lower prices, I can get the games I was would otherwise get, games I might have considered and some stuff I'd probably not have considered.GreenGoo wrote:This is the first year where I'm only vaguely interested in even looking. That said, assuming I get my Steam card credited to my account before the sale is over, there's a few games I'm planning to get (Star Ruler 2+DLC and the new MOO, maybe couple other cheap no name TD games - I'm a sucker for those).

Both Metro Redux games are $3.99 right now. The normal versions are still $15 so why spend more.
