Apparently for April fools, they aired the first episode last night - because no one will believe you if you go online and claim you watched it. I did watch it today online (do a search) and it's bananas awesome. Just so...good. They're suggesting the next season will continue "this summer" - whatever that means.

I don't know why, but I laughed hysterically at Rick's line: "He's a spy, blow him up, I gotta take a sh*t." It was the way it was delivered and the situation in which it was uttered that made it hilarious.

I didn't find out until Sunday morning. Also, aren't you usually only on the site M-F? If I knew how you felt about McDonald's Szechuan dipping sauce that might have helped.

My season pass on TiVo grabbed the new episode last night so I watched it again. I think my favorite part was seeing two Ricks and Summer yell at Morty, completely turning on him in a moment of crisis. So happy to have found out about this show - it really is a treasure.

So happy to have given it a try in season 2 rather than write it off as something I was going to hate by the season one ads. It seemed like it was going to be everything I don't like in Adult Swim original cartoons with nothing I love about Adult Swim original cartoons. And I was so wrong.

Improv is not their strong point. The Rixty Minutes episode is probably the weakest thing they've ever done.

I did not see Rixty Minutes.

I did some a comic con thing that was pretty bad where they were live acting and drawing on an overhead but I've also seen interviews that were awesome, like the "They're Drawing It" um... hip hoplike... songlike thing. The worst thing that happens is turn it on and then shrug and turn it off.

I'm just puttin it out there because no one told me about the season premier.

I was prepared to be underwhelmed by Pickle Rick, and then I liked it way better than the Mad Max episode.

Who here among us hasn't wished they could turn themselves into a pickle to escape potentially uncomfortable obligations? I found this episode to be quite relatable.

Particularly in New Jersey, where rolling into a rat-infested storm drain probably wouldn't seem that much worse than anywhere else. ;-)

The Ricklantis Mixup is being hailed as the best episode of the entire series. It's also receiving rave reviews for tackling the subjects of institutionalized racism, the rise of populism in politics, and class warfare. The accolades just keep coming.

It was just genius...absolute genius.

AND it had farting.

I can appreciate it's political take but it felt out of place juxtaposed to the rest of the series. It may have been a clever way to make a statement using the R&M framework but it just didn't work for me.
Spoiler:
I did like the implied broadcast that candidate Morty was a call back to the mysterious eye patch Morty. Much like how I am waiting for the return Phoenix Person and Summer's friend and now Jaguar.

I would agree. I loved that instead of going batshit insane, it wallowed in the fallout of Rick's self-multiple-destruction and provided a relatable narrative around the characters. It was Rick & Morty, but deeper than a wading pool and wasn't just "Look, I'm Rick and I'm in a dimension, inside a dimension motherf##kers!" ... Awesome callback to Stand By Me, too.

The ending was awesome and a little haunting.

I like it too! The breakneck pace of lunacy to craziness to insanity to confusion to bananas is a lot of fun - but generally kept to one or two layers.

I lost count of how many TV tropes they lambasted...then turned on their head to serve the underlying themes. You can enjoy it as simple fun, sure. But it had so much more going on.

This spoiler filled review sums it all up nicely.

I cringed while laughing at
Spoiler:
“You’re pitching the Policeman’s Ball to a black teenager, here,”
The always hilarious Kumail Nanjiani couldn't even bring himself to make a joke about it.
And this reaction from attorney/journalist Seth Abramson (I listen to him on NPR) is great.

All of these accolades are only going to last until the real best episode ever, this season's improv ep., airs next week. ;)

I wish I could adequately convey how much I love the improve episodes. I've seen them both at least half a dozen times each and they still make me laugh. While I appreciate the awesome story from this last week and how layered it was, I'd by lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to whatever the S3 equivalent of Jan Quadrant Vincent 16 will be.

I wonder if the writers stand a snowball's chance in hell of garnering an Emmy nomination for this episode? I'm guessing it's way too weird for that.
