Octopus Overlords

Why is there a bird picture where there used to be an octopus picture? Using the black theme.

With the silver theme, I just get the phpbb logo, which is not nearly as bitchin' as a lightsaber-wielding octopus.

Yeah I was a little shocked - I forgot there's an image there. I added the old one to AdBlock years ago.

All are reset back to the blue logo, should now show up as that.

Hell yes! We've finally stopped looking like Episode 1 fanboys.

I didn't realize I was in such a minority. I love that thing.

Old blue logo. When we launched, we had the blue one for the silver themes and a gold one for the black theme.

Note that the last two there are clickable to use as wallpapers.

At some point, someone put the Darth Maul into all of the themes on a lark, and for some reason nobody ever got around to changing it back.

While I'm not a Star Wars elitist, I am married to one, and the Darth Maul logo always made me embarrassed to browse the forum in front of her. Especially considering she posts here on rare occasion, and I'd be delighted if she did so more often. We need more Star Wars traditionalists around here, not less.

Ah I wonder why the change was made. Frankly after years of the Darth OO, I find the blue OO logo to be somewhat bland. Still I understand the change to something a bit more generic and less genre related.

This sort of thing makes me glad we're such a (relatively) agreeable group, because you're never going to satisfy everyone, but neither will it blow up into an argument. Thanks, Fish and company.

Regardless, add me to the Non-Star Wars logo camp; it never made sense to me. While this new (old) logo looks plain, it doesn't suggest we're a Darth-Maul Fan site.

That would be awesome. I don't know how possible that is but it sounds like a fun idea.

We had the above logo through our early growing pains days, through Fucktard Ridge and Hooterloo, through U2K and Kobra.

We then changed logos.

We haven't had a multi-page Meta controversy thread in years.

We change logos back.

Hell breaks loose.

Just in case the above is construed as being negative, that's not the intention, it was more sarcasm based on the West Coast weather who is not experiencing any bad weather or a typical winter at all.
I do like the logo though, looks cool!
