Origin's On The House - Monthly Free Game

Post by Moat_Man »

Origin is offering one free game a month for those who sign up and install the client before May 8th. The first game is Dead Space which has it's own thread. We can use this thread to track the monthly free game.

Thanks for the tip. I already had an Origin account for DA 2 and Simcity, so all I had to do was log in.
I spent 90% of the money I made on women, booze, and drugs. The other 10% I just pissed away.

Is it a 1 month free rental or is the game permanently part of your account?

Also, chances are slim I will make an Origin's account even when they are giving me games, let alone charging me for them, but at least they have me paying attention, which is more than I was doing before this promo.

I mainly made an origins account to add the ea games I bought on Steam to it. A backup in case something happened to Steam

so for it to be added to your library, do you have to fully download it, or is just starting the download and cancelling it immediately sufficient?

My understanding is that it's not unlike getting a free game on Steam. You claim it and then it's yours. It's not a "Free Weekend" thing, it's a giveaway.

This I don't know. I haven't installed nor signed up for the Origin client. This thread is my attempt to catch up in post count to Isgrimnur. I'm going to do it one post a month!

looks like you can just start to download it, then cancel, and it will be added to your "My Games"

Well now a gift of Titanfall has gotten me on Origin anyway. Guess I'll have to start looking at the free stuff.

Now it all makes sense. They're pushing the DLCs for Battlefield 3 with the sale while they're ready to launch the game AFTER Battlefield 4. :)

How about some free Peggle

Free until 8/5. I have to believe they're going to do better than that before August.

Fired up Origin to play some Titanfall. Popup said Peggle is free and a button to "get it".

They don't make it easier than that. I now "own" peggle. I have no intention of actually downloading and playing it, but I wouldn't have gotten this far without EA shoving a free game in my face. I am impressed. Grudgingly.

Not an 'on the house' deal, but free nonetheless.

Open Origin, go to redeem code, and put in I-LOVE-THE-SIMS to get a free copy of the Sims 2 Ultimate - the base game plus all of the expansions.

Unlike the version they announced the other day, this does not require owning the base game already.

Just came to post that. Wing Commander III is free. It's pretty much meaningless to me but I assume it'll be a big deal for others.

If only they provided a free joystick. That game was great.

Though I'm still upset about how they handled Hobbes.

Wow. I paid full price for that one, or pretty close to it. Never did get too far into it. I got part way through the wizards tower, ran into some minor frustration, then never jumped back in. Now I never have time for big immersive games any more.

Finished it twice. Installed it again earlier this year. Got about 4 places into it and just quit.

Thanks for posting this info. I haven't been checking Origin lately and this is a free game I might actually play.

Time for some nostalgia gaming! Although, lately, every time I have tried that, with the exception of Fallout, it has not gone well. Hopefully this one holds up well.

Probably still have the original game in a box somewhere.

I got this through GoG or something a while back. I loved Crusader back in the day, I still have a complete boxed copy. Graphics hold up somewhat but the controls are brutal. Definitely worth a try for free but be prepared for a bit of frustration.
