The sad thing is that this just reminds me of how painful it was that the new SimCity turned out to be such a turd.

Oh yeah, SimCity 2000 was great. That was the game where I built a libertarian paradise, after I realized that if you accepted all of the casinos, high-security prisons, and toxic waste dumps that they game offered to pay you to take, you could abolish all taxes and still have more than enough money to build out your city.

I would think SimCity 2000 would still be playable, unlike other older games from different genres.

On further reflection, Theme Hospital is one of the few CD's I still have from when I originally bought it, and could probably even put my hands on it within a matter of 10 minutes (and probably will still install and run under Win 7). So not sure why my initial excitement there, probably just because I love TH, and a free digital version? Yes please thankyouverymuch.

Also, Rip, if you remember please come back here and advise when you get an email that it's available. Apparently I am not on that mailing list.

Downloading.

Damn I love free stuff. Been the only reason I have logged into the Origin client several times.

They still don't have much of anything I want at a price I am willing to play.

But nice visit. Call me with free stuff again anytime.

I have professed my love for Theme Hospital before on here, but seriously, after all these years, how is it that someone has not made a GREAT game based on this genre? Evil Genius was the closest, I guess, but IMHO, did not come close to the fun level of this title. Yes, it's simplistic, and on the verge of being too silly, even for me, but I look past that at the game play, and it matters not.

Theme Hospital was the only Theme game I really enjoyed. Even more than the park one.

IIRC it was a great game, though I was back in grade school or middle school back then, so it could well be nostalgia.

Syndicate, when it came out, was a fantastic game. I'm not sure how well it's aged, but I'll grab it and give it a whirl.

I remember when Ultima 8 came out I was pissed because my PC couldn't run it. I thought the graphics were just incredible.

I loved Pagan until I got to the jumping platforms with the water . Thats where I gave up. I loved the graphics. Didn't care for the story / setting much. Had fun finding secret areas . I remember falling into a hole and discovering a mace that could cause lightning at times. Loved it.

Ha! Same. And the graphics WERE incredible for the time. I distinctly remember it bringing my computer to its knees, begging for mercy every time I tried to run it.

I'm not sure I could bring myself to play an 11 year old game. It would ruin any nostalgia I have for the Ultima series.

Origin has discovered that they literally cannot give away copies of Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 + Yuri's Revenge (because their servers can't keep up with the demand).

The On the House offer has reverted back to Theme Hospital until they get the server situation sorted out.

I clicked it and then aborted the download, just to get it into my library. Now that I have it, I can download it anytime after the rush is over. :)
