No, astrology. The spelling was intentional. I was referring to basing the seasons on the movements of celestial bodies that hold no real relevance other than being easy to keep track of with monoliths.

TIL that our inclination towards the sun and total hours of daylight 'hold no real relevance'.

All celestial motions can be boiled down that way. That doesn't mean they have significant relevance to define the seasons, a construct based primarily on weather patterns. Spring starting when the sun happens to match the timing of the moon is silly. Spring starting because you turn the lights on a 8:03 instead of 8:02 is silly (and if the position of the sun is what matters, Spring should be starting on different days in Texas, Nebraska, and Wisconsin... but doesn't.) Spring starting in the month during which spring weather typically begins at least has some practical basis.

To be fair, the best criticism is that months themselves are totally arbitrary human constructs, and the real measure of spring should be when the average temperature passes a certain point. But then again, having four seasons is also just an arbitrary human construct. If we're going to work with arbitrary constructs, it at least makes sense to work with the ones that happen to match human perceptions, aren't inconsistent, and aren't a pain to work with. Nobody has to google, "When does March start this year?"

Also, this entire discussion topic is a totally arbitrary human construct and has no bearing on anything anywhere purple monkey dishwasher

I have argued endlessly with my wife about this very subject. To me, this year in Florida it has been spring since the first week of February and damn summer once the temp hit the upper eighties later in the month. She counters that it is still winter.

And even the National Hurricane Center gets into these things. They are considering moving the start of the "official" hurricane season from June 1st to May 15th. Since we've had hurricanes very much earlier than May 15th, it is a bit silly.

Fanatical has a VR Bundle using it's normal tiered pricing structure (it's $9.99 for the whole shebang.)

Stunt Kite Masters VR
Dread Eye
Republique VR
Conscious Existence: A Journey Within
Star Shelter
The Morrigan

Some of those appealed to me. Short reviews in the spoiler.

Noticed Killer Bundle 17 for $4, which had a few games on my wishlist. It looks like all of the games have very good user reviews on Steam.

It's got:

Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock
Planescape Torment:Enhanced Edition
Blacksad
Railway Empire
Tower of Time
Undead Horde
Out of Space

Tower of Time is a fun little tactical RPG. Graphics are nice too. Not much of a story, but good combat. I finished it awhile back.

BSG Deadlock is a steal at that price. Steeper learning curve than I was willing to deal with, but a nice space strategy game. It's a shame we never got any other good BSG games.

Planescape is Planescape. Never heard about any of the others.

got this earlier today. Modern Python Cookbook, Second Edition is pretty decent, if you're into that sort of thing

(the Mastering Assembly Programming one also looks decent, but it's for the Intel platform and my interests in assembler are more along the lines of the 6502 and Z80)

Star deal: Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition $10.19, includes ALL DLCs, plus bonus soundtracks. I'd get it if I don't have such a large backlog.

Build your own Platinum Bundle has 20 games to choose from at 3 for 9.99, 5 for 14.99 or 7 for $19.99. 3 different WH40K games, plus a couple decent looking games, including Panzer Corp Gold, Trine 4, and the classic Road Redemption (which is still being updated, last I checked).

There's a $3 off coupon if you buy more than $10 from Fanatical. I think it was found by Cently the plugin. So my final price for MW5:Merc Jumpship Edition was $33. Definitely worth it as I doubt it'd go down any further before March. But I did break my promise NOT to spend more than $15 on a game. :D

Yep, got an email for it. Got a $2 gift cert. Debating whether to look for something $2 or less or apply it to something sitting on my wishlist forever that doesn't seem like it'll get any cheaper than the current sale price they have it for.

I didn't get a free gift, and I even bought the Oddworld star deal. Probably just as well, come to think of it; I have no luck with loot boxes anyway.

Warhammer End Times: Vermintidef free on Fantatical. It nets you a Steam key. I've played ~170 hours of this. It's a Warhammer Fantasy themed Left4Dead style game, and it's a lot of fun, especially in coop.

Their Star Deal right now is Valhalla GOLD. Its usually $100 and right now its $38.99. Still too high for me but thats a damn fine deal on a AAA new game from Ubi.

https://www.fanatical.com/en/game/assas ... ld-edition

YOUR OFFICIAL ASSASSIN'S CREED VALHALLA GOLD EDITION UPLAY PC GAME INCLUDES:

Base game and Season Pass.

The next exciting installment in the Assassin's Creed franchise.
The choice of either a male or female Eivor with vast customization.

Fanatical has Ace Combat 7 for under $10 (the standard edition, not the deluxe or the Maverick Edition) which may be as low as it's ever going to get, at least in the next 6 months.
