Embedding tweets?

Is there a way to embed a tweet in a post, other than just cutting-and-pasting the text as a quote? It would be nice to be able to embed formatted tweets.

Oh and it's using:

Code: Select all

[tweet] TWITTER URL HERE [/tweet]

Any progress on inserting direct URLs?

That's part of an anti spam script that we're running, use the URL /URL tags.

So after like a year of not seeing them I've had enough. Can anyone explain why they're not appearing for me on the site? I have to quote the poster in a message reply to see the:

Code: Select all

[tweet]Very important things[/tweet]
link in their post but the actual Tweet or image isn't visible. Half of the last page or so of the R&P images thread is just blank posts. When I quote them, I see a "twimg.com" listing which I guess is a direct link to a Twitter shared image.

I'm rocking the pro-silver shell if that is important. No scripts are being blocked. I am not wearing pants.

List your plugins. Odds are that one of them is configured to block a key element.

I think it's a prosilver issue. I have the same thing, but the tweets embed properly when I switch to another style.

They show fine for my prosilver configuration. Chrome, BTW.

I'm using IE v11 (corporate version).

Switching over to the corporate-approved alternate (Firefox 38.3.0) seems to show tweets fine. Maybe it's a combination of prosilver and browser?

Hmmm...using Pro silver with Firefox 47. My plugins:
AdBlock Plus
Disconnect
Gmail Notifier
Goo.gl Lite
No Script
Updated Ad Blocker
Web of Trust
However, as stated nothing is being blocked for this site so I'm rather confused.

EDIT: I just checked the other two themes for the site and the problem persists.

EDIT: Just checked through IE version 11 and not logged in the subsilver is the default theme; I can see the embedded Twitter images fine. So It has to be related to Firefox then.

Is anything being blocked for Twitter?

As someone that actually possess a Twitter account, no, nothing (script) is being blocked for Twitter; both Twitter.com and twimg are permitted. Does Gaming Trend allow for embedded Twitter information on their discussion forums? I could run over there if someone has a post handy (or any site really) where people are embedding Tweets.

So I am now running an entirely new PC with freshly installed FireFox (all the same add ons) and Win10. However, now the previously invisible embedded tweets are now visible. So...I guess for anyone still having problems, buy a new computer and install Win10? :o

Nice I will put that on my troubleshooting script right after "Have you rebooted?".

Well 48 hours later and it's not working anymore. Nothing else has been updated/blocked/installed/modified but it just stopped working. :(

Have you tried buying a new PC and install Windows 10 yet...

Is it possible to have OO add a link to the tweet along with the embedded tweet, so those who are using a blocker that blocks web beacons and such (that will block embedded tweets) will 1) realize there's a tweet and 2) be able to visit and see the tweet (without changing their settings in the blocker software to white-list the tweet)

I know that some people don't like embedded tweets and prefer images (although that makes it impossible to follow it back and get context), but can we please start using bigimg tags when we post tweets the size of a wallpaper?

I'd like to second the motion that embedded tweets also display a link automatically. Tapatalk doesn't display the embedded tweets, so I wind up just seeing a bunch of blank posts if people just post the tweet. It's super frustrating.

I'm on the beta and they are mostly appearing but when I posted one and manually put the tweet code, I couldn't see it. It's really maddening.

I'm actually getting hit and miss visibility. If I become bored, I may try to document the differences.

Looks like it's the URL tags on tweets that show inline on Tapatalk.

I'm on iPhone, version 6.5.8(1844)

So if I'm trying to be nice, I should use the tweet tag for most people and then include the tweet as a link for Tapatalk? That would be easier than the quoting I've been doing. Is it possible to put the tweet tag in a url tag?

There - a tweet in a URL tag.
