My amazon basics 3 button mouse was $7 and it's still just fine after 2 years. I appreciate the basics.

Checking into mice again. Seems Amazon sells them cheaper than the companies that make them. My friend is reviewing some Roccats right now so waiting to see his views on those. Im looking at 4. I wasn't sure I could ever go back to a wired mouse but after using this one a few days I dont think it would be a problem. Started out on them of course for a decade.

The Corsair M65 RGB is what I use, and gets my very strong recommendation. It is the best mouse I've ever owned.

That sniper button placement worries me. It appears to be right where my thumb would rest. Unless its difficult to press Id think Id accidentally press it every time I moved the mouse.

I have the Logitech and have used it for quite a while. I’m not a “gamer” mouse kind of guy, so the extra buttons mainly are used for browsing assistance.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

The Corsair sniper button is not in the way and I don't believe I've ever accidentally pressed it. While I prefer a more ambidextrous shape for fingertip grip (the Corsair has some minor ergonomic touches), the M65 is a great all around mouse and it gets the McNutt stamp of approval.

So far, the G602 fitted all my expectations. Feels a bit lighter than my G500S, but then I had all the weights installed in the G500S. My thumb can only easily access 4 out of the 6 thumb buttons, but it's not a major problem. I don't really have that many functions to map. :D

the stupid Razer mouse has another problem - when scrolling, sometimes it jumps first in the opposite direction briefly before scrolling in the direction intended. i found a reddit thread on it with a possible solution:

did some research and it looks like the hexagonal part of the axle on the mouse wheel broke off. super common issue. i could buy a new wheel off ebay for about $4 (tons of sellers):

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R ... l&_sacat=0

but really, the Razer Deathadder is un pedazo de basura and i don't believe i want to throw any money at this thing, given that it was intermittently losing connection on the PC before, and that it's possible it could develop the double-click issue at some point....

When I started having some double click issues with my old mouse I picked up an EUASOO Mouse Mice Z-7900 4000 DPI Metal Base MMO/FPS High Precision Optical Gaming Mouse for $23 from Amazon as a temporary back-up. One year later and it's still going strong as my primary mouse. I don't mind spending the money on quality mice and keyboards, but I would seriously consider buying this one again. It's currently $27 but its usually lower and sometimes on sale for under $20.

Ordered two mice from Newegg. Couldn't decide without trying them so once I do that I send one back. Did the same with my headphones back when. If AZIO will help....not sure since it was a contest I won to get the mouse......then I can send both back. Really need the money. Lucky it happened now if it had to thanks to the new month going to start and using PayPal Credit. I can pay it right back. And both mice are now cheaper than ever. Free shipping also. :) Im so cheap.

Ok testing each mouse now. Ive started with the Corsair M65 Pro RGB.

Just out of the box and using for 10 min. Im downloading the Corsair software now. So far the size and weight are just spot on. I really love the feel of it.

bad is that sniper button I was worried about. Its right under the thumb and its very easy to press. Im really worried about it right now. Will test both mice tonight then stay with the Corsair doe a full day or so and see how it goes. If I cant take it then it goes back and Ill most likely get a Logitech performance MX like my old one. But Im hoping I get used to it being there. Otherwise love it after 10 min haha...shall see.

Already a problem. If I simply plug in the M65 its all fine and dandy. But I cant control lighting. So I install the Corsair software and can control lighting. But then my thumb buttons no longer function. No back and forward any longer. uninstall software and they are fine. I dont even see settings in that software for buttons.

All told it took me an hour to narrow the problem and fix it. The M65 side buttons worked unless I installed their software then they were dead. The software had a macro engine error and inside my device manager in the system devices there was a yellow error mark sitting on the corsair bus entry.

Long story short...had to download a win 7 update KB3033929 to resolve it all. Working fine now.

The sniper button has enough resistance that I've never pressed it by accident, but if it is a problem, you can disable it in the CUE2 software. Personally, I remap it to something useful.

Testing the G502 now

First thoughts....love the infinite scroll wheel........but the extra thick braided cord is grabbing on the edge of my steel mouse pad. Also very little lighting otpions. And the buttons on the right are a bit confusing...the thumbs are fine but the dpi and such I have to look at to see what Im hitting.

I had the 500S. I bought the 602 because the 500S was having some issues with the wheel getting dirty and "binding", and I don't have time to disassemble the mouse for a cleaning. I don't actually miss the wheel that much.

EDIT: Just opened my 500S (5 screws hidden under labels and slide pads), and there's like a tiny hairball right at the wheel. Have to pull it out with tiny tweezers.

hitbyambulance wrote: Sun Apr 30, 2017 2:54 am trying out a "Monoprice 5-Button Optical Laser Gaming Mouse" that i got from my previous job's junk pile. it is surprisingly full-featured for a $9 mouse, although it is quirky. the adjustable DPI buttons actually work. the adjustable weight option is useless. the LED is far too bright, so i'm going to cover it with electrical tape. the 'forward webpage' side button is huge and makes a great 'melee' button for FPS games, but i need to make it the 'backward webpage' button on the desktop, since the other side button is harder to reach. it's a good size for my biggish hands and grip seems comfortable enough. reviews on reliability are not good - i expect this to last for about half a year, at most.
and now i can pinpoint the problem with this mouse - the cursor wobbles drunkenly a small amount when it's slowly moved, and a lot when it's quickly moved. i don't think i'll be using this one on my gaming machine anymore.

just for fun, i'm trying out a wireless mouse my parents rejected and were about to throw in the eWaste recycling due to a very tragic firmware bug. it's this "Hype 2.4GHz Wireless Optical Mouse" that is way too tiny. it does have an adjustable DPI button and two side buttons, but is not comfortable for me to use at all. you can see the stellar ratings it received, but the fatal flaw in this device is that when it's 'woken' after having gone into power saving mode (i think about five minutes of non-use), the mouse will no longer track. the buttons still work, but you can't move the mouse cursor anymore- the tracking LED remains dark. the stupid thing needs to be power cycled to fully function again, lol. i'm taking this to the eWaste facility myself.

The Corsair sniper button was just the right pressure to avoid accidental presses for me. I remapped it for other things as I never used it for the DPI change.

I'm using a Logitech G-Pro because the size and shape are perfect for me. I do miss that extra thumb button though. I'd love to have that for a melee button in Overwatch.

finally getting rid of the Monoprice mouse - the jitteriness was too much to take. switched back to a Microsoft IntelliMouse that i recently repaired (sticking LMB).

still debating if it's worth fixing the Razer... i'm kinda leaning towards 'no'. maybe i'll spring for that Corsair M65 Pro.

EDIT: just got this Cyberpowerpc gaming mouse from work to try out:

I see, I believe, five. The obvious one, the pad around it seems to be two others, and the two segments just above that seem to be buttons as well.

I see THREE buttons under the thumb. The two arrow keys next to the main thumb button are pretty obvious. Add to the standard two, the wheel itself, the one behind the wheel, and two more under index finger, and I count 9, exactly as described.

(FWIW, my G500S has the same buttons, 3 under my thumb, 2 dpi switches next to the index finger, but the wheel also takes left and right tilts as clicks in addition to being pressed)

We're seeing the same thing. The two I'm calling "the two segments just above" are your "two more under index finger" - I just saw them as thumb buttons rather than finger buttons (although a closer look suggests that they're probably intended to be used by the index finger, something I'm not sure I'd like.)

$4 mouse seems pretty good for a $4 mouse so far, but it really doesn't feel built to last. the forward/backword buttons are pretty brittle. it does have a 'sniper' button tho (which i'm liking) and an 'auto-doubleclick' button.

i do wish it was higher profile, however, and that's something i'm going to be looking for in a 'real' mouse. i like my whole hand to rest on it - if i do that with this one, my wrist is dragging on the mousepad wrist-rest. also on the wishlist is a forward/backward 'tilt' wheel.

I just bought a Nixeus Revel mouse for $32.
Image

It has three of my favorite design elements: small, light, ambidextrous. It has the 3360 sensor which is fantastic and the buttons feel good. What I like about this mouse is that by default it is plug and play with 8 color-coded dpi settings. However, you can also load the software and customize the settings so that you only have the number of DPI steps you want.

This mouse is only going to be for claw or fingertip users. Sorry, hitbyambulance, you can't rest your entire hand on this one.

I still prefer my Logitech G-Pro as the shape is just a little bit better. This one is good to leave in my backpack for trips (I don't need good reasons to buy new mice).

Both my new mice share a single annoyance. The DPI resets on reboot. Lucky I custom colored the dpi lights so its a simple matter of click click and back to my DPI. But I dont recall this happening in older mice.
