No, per an unreliable article I googled, Canada's not getting the Mexican pizza back at this time. We used to have it, though.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

FWIW Olestra banned in Canada and the EU. Does Taco Bell still use that stuff?

That would certainly explain a lot of the cramps and other bathroom issues.

Looks pretty good to me ;)

About 10-12 years ago, I got into a conversation with a woman who's had some kind of gastric bypass surgery for weight loss. She said that since her surgery, she was completely unable to eat any fast food. It wasn't just a quantity thing - she would eat a tiny bit and still get violently ill. The only fast food she could eat without any issues was Taco Bell. So out of all fast foods, it's the closest to actual edible food :)

Ya Ive never got the hang up with TB or other places. In fact TB seems to have done something to their meat in the last couple years and it taste delicious to me . If I could Id order a bowl of meat and sour cream.

I remember when Wendys was accused of using earth worms in their hamburger patties. Never phased me. I dont believe the crap.

hehehe..no its some spice..it is almost as if they have added a lot of MSG and its bringing the flavor forward.

I was thinking of making a giant walking taco next week. A full sized bag of doritos crushed, pour in a full can of thinned chili, add lettuce and tomato and sour cream.

I'm being serious. They add oats to their ground beef. Probably healthiest thing on the menu as a result!

I add oats to my hamburgers and meat loaf. They add a pleasant chewy texture and enhance flavor by binding fat that would otherwise cook away.

Breadcrumbs to meatloaf and meatballs. Not to hamburger. Maybe I'll try one day but I don't make burgers that often any since the heart started acting up and then even more so since inflation took 80/20 from $1.99 to $4.99 a pound. Though for me, it's better for the fat to cook away. :(

Back in Akron, Ohio there is a chain of drive in burger places called Swenson's…although I believe they’ve spread out to other areas of the state. The Galley Boy they serve is perhaps the perfect burger. The meat just tastes out of this world. The local rumor for the past 80 or so years is that they put brown sugar in the ground beef. Not sure if there’s any truth to that, but I’ve always wanted to try it at home.

I'm so glad that coupons and surveys exist or I'd never get any fast food with the recent price increases. Burger King is particularly stellar at keeping me in coupons via USPS. Today I received Arby's, Subway, and Wendy's flyers so I'm fat and happy in the coupon department. I had some Taco Bell that was really good in northern Alabama, after a two year abstinence, confirming what I'd thought regarding my local central Florida Taco Bell being the worst one ever.
Technically, he shouldn't be here.

McD demolished their local restaurant and raised a nearly identical building on its ashes in about 3 months. Someday I will see if they improved the drive-thru experience. I don't eat much fast food but I enjoy it when I do.

Not sure if it’s already been mentioned, but anyone who’s read this far in the thread needs to watch the first episode of the Netflix series ‘History 101’ dedicated to ‘fast food’. Super interesting (to anyone in here at least)

Excellent, now I need to try that for sure. I like that they won't admit to it though:
I’ve been told in the years since I first made this recipe that Swenson’s swears up and down they don’t use brown sugar in their burgers. But there is SOMETHING adding a hint of sweetness. Whether that’s brown sugar, honey or some other kind of sugar additive, there’s definitely something proprietary about these burgers that makes them so sweet and tasty. My best guess is brown sugar, but feel free to do some experimenting on your own and report back to me what you think they use in the burgers to get that signature sweet taste!
I had to laugh at the photo the writer posted of the Swenson's "at the end of his driveway". From the sign alone, I knew exactly which Swenson's he was referring to AND the apartment complex he lives in.

edit: cool, they were just voted Best Burger in Ohio by Readers' Digest.
