Tried the water poisoning mission on easy with bots last night. Failed badly twice. Good to know that the game isn't a cakewalk.
That mission is extremely long and the actual breaking of the chains can get pretty busy. If you get separated and/or a catcher sneaks in amongst a swarm, things can be a bit rough.

Wait... or is he talking about Well Watchers?

Edit: The key to that one ... well most of them... is to remember that the bots only fight. You have to focus on killing stuff that gets through to the wells and trust the bots to stay alive, kill specials, and help each other.

Whichever is the western map in phase 2 where you enter through the crypt.

Well Watchers is Act III and a short, open map. So ... not that one. :)

That one can be brutal. A lot depends on when/where you get the ogre. Also what special groups you get.

Yep, that was the one that Mix and I were discussing failing three times yesterday. And at the same time, I've run it solo with three tomes and a grimoire without too much trouble. There are some real variables in that one that can make you or break you.

Bonus Warhammer trivia for in-game context: Four gods come up regularly.

Garden of Morr: Morr is the god of the dead and dreams. He isn't an evil death god, but a guardian of the dead.

Ranald's Bones: Ranald is the trickster god, god of thieves, and god of luck.

For Sigmar! (characters shout this from time to time): Sigmar Heldenhammer is the patron god of the Empire, where the game takes place in the city of Ubersreik. If you've played Total War: Warhmmer, it is halfway between Nuln and Helmgart.

Everywhere: The Horned Rat is the god of the Skaven. The Skaven live primarily in Skavenblight, but have dug tunnels throughout the Old World (which is why the game takes place in so many tunnels.) Every once in a while, the Horned Rat starts to stir, and the Skaven swarm up and do the same thing they do every time: try to take over the world. The game takes place during one of these events. You don't see the Horned Rat, and I don't remember hearing him mentioned, but his symbol (three sticks or lines in an inverted triangle) is absolutely everywhere.

Thanks for the group this evening. I did get credit for Garden of Morr on Normal, so that's one down. I've got two more in Act 2 to complete.

If you see one of us playing, feel to drop in or send us an invite (well, that goes for me at least, but we tend to drop into each others games all the time.)

Sorry I missed last night. Mom is moving out of the hospital and into a Physical Therapy clinic today where she'll spend the next few weeks working on her knee so I should be available for Sunday night.

I did the White Rat, then BD showed up. We ran it again for her, then did Black Powder, followed by some Horn of Magnus with two tomes and a grimoire. We didn't have any real problems on any of them, save for one bit of bad luck involving a Gutter Runner assassin and six Stormvermin on the second White Rat.

What, a guy can't sleep in on the weekend?

Today's Vermintide (solo-able) contracts....

Map.....................Level+.....Requirements........Rewards
Man the Ramparts....Easy........Mission Complete....2h damage AND key
Khazid Kro.............Easy.........1 Grimoire...........1h stamina (DLC)
Man the Ramparts....Normal.....Mission Complete....20 Jade Tokens

Glad I already have a Quest. I have 2 blues and 1 green available...

Edit: Though one of the trinkets is pretty nice. Can't be interrupted while reviving. Seems like it would be good on the bots. Except that they seem to have that skill by default.

Today's Vermintide (solo-able) contracts....

Map.....................Level+.....Requirements........Rewards
Castle Drachenfels....Easy........2 Tomes..............2h damage AND key (DLC)
Waterfront.............Easy........Kill ogre..............2h defense
Well Watch.............Normal.....Kill ogre..............30 Jade Tokens

Oh goodie. No key. And I get to run the 2 that I ran yesterday and kept wiping on. Turns out bots are really bad at not falling off ledges. Also discovered that having a really slow 2h hammer is a REALLY bad idea when you are the only one actually protecting the wells. :(

There is nothing more obnoxious than the levels that require teamwork played with bots. I must have gone through a dozen barrels of powder on Waterfront before getting bumped off the edge, at which point Marcus came and stood next to me, shield down, weapon down, but not pulling me up until he got murdered to death by Skaven.

Agree with you both. Plus, unlike TheMix, I don't trust the bots enough to try to get them to pick up (and keep) the tomes and grimoires, so for any contracts requiring more than 1 tome/grimoire, I have to run the map over and over. At least today it was Castle Drachenfels and not the Garden of Morr.

Oh, no. We don't trust the bots to carry tomes (and they can't take grimoires.) We manipulate them into doing it!

Looked at the map and realized I hadn't completed White Rat on normal yet, so I decided to try it with bots. Wiped 5 times before getting the door open. Eventually got through the door and then it was totally doable. Only the Ogre caused any more issues.

So as far as I can tell, the sheer number of Stormvermin as you approach and then try to open the door is the most difficult part. 1 bomb can get you through but if you are playing with 1 other player 2 bombs pretty much guarantee you can get through the door. After that, it's just the ogre to worry about.

I will say that keeping the bots alive really slowed things down. It's like herding cats. But slow and steady wins the race as they say.

Well, I got my blue conflagration and fireball staves, and I just finished my orange sword quest. At this point I may start swapping out my Bright Wizard trinket for something more practical unless we're doing hard.

Next nerdy Warhammer note:

In Warhammer, magic is divided into 8 Lores or Winds, each dealing with a particular type of effect. Druids, for example, use the green Lore of nature, and are called Jade Wizards. There are Amethyst Wizards (purple), Celestial Wizards (blue), etc. Aqshy, the red Lore, is the wind of fire, and those who use it are called Bright Wizards.

If the lore snippets bug people, I can stop them. I just figure it adds some meaning and context to the game.
