First trailer is out and it really looks great and intriguing:

That's exactly what I wanted in a Black Panther film: a focus on Wakanda. I was afraid they'd move him to an American city and just mention his past in a few flashbacks. Although I do hope they don't add a ton of rap music. That always comes across as pandering to a stereotype to me. You can make a film featuring black characters without using the same soundtrack over and over again. Luke Cage was an example of a black hero done right in this regard. He was surrounded by a varied and fascinating history of African American music at all times.

I would hope that they would take advantage of the wealth of actual African music available.

That effect at the end, where he's landing with the car rolling behind him, looks like a 'next gen' special effect. It's a step above how that type of shot usually looks to me. Between this and the Thor trailer, I'm thinking this means part of the next phase of Marvel movies is a whole new look to the movies including this next gen style.

I also hope they leverage Africa for all it's worth, this is a great opportunity to show the audience something fresh.

Wakanda has always been the heart of any Black Panther story. Also, I want to see the Dora Milaje...which I believe we see in that trailer more than once. Those chicks can eat Black Widows lunch.

Side note: they should have put some more thought into BP's costume in that photo. I thought he had a beard growing on his neck at first.

I didn't love the trailer but I know none of the Black Panther story accept for what was in CA3. But, I have no doubt I will end up seeing the movie.

I had no idea that was Andy Serkis.

Same character he played in Ultron and I feel like we saw him in CA3

The first reviews are up. It's apparently quite good: 100% on RT right now.

I've been reading reviews and they all seem to say that the villain of the movie is uncommonly deep for a superhero film. I'm looking forward to seeing something that measures up to Logan in terms of strong narrative.

The NYT loved it. This was sort of off my radar, but I'm definitely interested in watching it now.

To be fair, Wakanda is supposed to be off everyone's radar.

I have not been a fan of the trailers but I always figured I would see the movie. It is nice to know the critics like it.

Generally, if the NYT likes it, I figure it will be a steaming load of ass-sandwich. However, I am willing to give this one a go as it looks pretty damn awesome from the trailers.

So far everything I've seen has turned out to be an anti-"SJW" parody account.

I have a sneaking suspicion those tweets are just attempts at being funny/satirical.

This is going to have a huge opening. Thur night estimates are $20-$25MM, and the weekend is looking at over $150MM (some are saying maybe $200MM but that seems a bit high). Can't wait to see it but I'll have to as I have family plans the next two weekends.
