These look really interesting! Any advice on the "best" game for a newbie to the series? I'm probably most interested in the Philippines as a scenario but let me know what you guys think

I have all three but most of my time has been in the Philippines one.
Earlier in the thread there is a tutorial that can give you a better idea than I can.

Thanks - bought the Philippine one and will give it a try.

It seems to me that starting from the "Philippines 1898" is a good idea. I will be happy to help deal with the game rules and answer any questions.

I was looking at the Ironclads 2 collection and it looks pretty similar. And it's less than $3.50 for everything so I picked it up.

This is an earlier series of games. They do not have all the features of "Clad in Iron". For example, there is no weather or supply system. But these are still not bad games.

The Spaniards considered the Caroline Islands in the Pacific Ocean to be their colony but did not actually control them.
In August 1885, a German colonial squadron occupied the Caroline Islands. In response, the Spaniards sent their ships to the Philippines.

8 new types of historically reliable warships have been added to the game scenario.
