Finished in under two hours... It wasn't completely awful. Started out as a chill experience that ended in frustration at unclear goals.

Underwhelming so far.

Today's is Encased. It doesn't look half bad, a little like Wasteland 2.

I don't know, I haven't played the game. But there is apparently something that looks just like that in it. Spoilering if people want to be surprised tomorrow (or guess.)

It says Death Stranding Director's Cut is free, but when I click into it it says $23.99 and then I can't actually buy it anyway... I guess maybe it's a popular pick... and the servers are off for the holiday.

It's the vanilla game that is free.
Good enough for me.

Looks like the Director's Cut upgrade is about $5, so that's not bad either.

Yeah, something has gone boom at EGS. When I first checked at about 1130, the daily free game was Death Stranding Director's Cut, but when I tried to redeem it, it just hung on me. Currently, I don't see any daily free game on the store page and if I search for the game, the basic version is set to free but hangs if I try to claim it and the Director's Cut is marked down to a sale price but not free. My guess is that someone screwed the pooch and accidentally configured the wrong version for the daily freebie and now the holiday skeleton crew is scrambling to figure out how they're going to fix it.

I was able to get the regular one free just now. It still took a couple tries, but went through eventually.

Yeah, as soon as I posted that I rechecked and they now have it set up to give away the base game (although the servers still seem to be choking up).

The Epic servers are just getting crushed right now. After (eventually) successfully claiming the free game, I tried to purchase the Director's Cut upgrade and the server crashed so hard that it dumped a chunk of the source code that was supposed to print an error message instead of printing the actual error message. And then the client hard locked and I had to kill it with Task Manager, so I guess it might be a client-side bug rather than a server crash, but still...

There are quite a few worth playing. Sadly, most of them have been games I've already purchased and completed via Steam, Gamepass or Playstation.

Me too. Also, I'm one of those (weird?) types that doesn't just want to play any game. Something about it has to appeal to me and darn if I can define what it is. I've looked at the trailers and descriptions for Death Stranding and I just can't get excited about it. But then I've also started The Witcher 3 several times and each time I stop and say "that's not for me".
