Anyone played this Mechanicus game? It looks a LOT like X-Com from what I could tell from the screen shots.

And? Loved it? Hated it? Gritted your teeth to get through it only because you're a completionist? Is it X-Commy?

It is X-Commy. Turn-based squad battles. I am not a completionist by any means. It was entertaining enough for my needs. I put in 28 hours to complete the main campaign, so it will keep you busy if it sets its hooks.

The weapons and abilities are certainly creative.

Fort Triumph - "A strategy game combining the turn-based combat of XCOM with the world exploration of HOMM."

Has this one been mentioned at all 'round these parts? Seems like something that would peak some interest. Anyone aware of whether it's any good? (I know... it's free. Yes, I did grab it. :D )

Been playing this for the last day or so. It's not a particularly deep game. But I'm having fun.

I definitely feel the HoMM vibes. But it's HoMM-Lite. Maybe HoMM-Very-Lite. It's also very XCOM-Lite (or Very-Lite). The artwork feels a bit like Massive Chalice. And the depth isn't a whole lot more. Still... I'm enjoying it. I started on Easy, since I don't like to struggle while learning a new game. But I probably should have started on the normal setting. It's definitely not challenging. On the other hand, part of the enjoyment is having my heroes stomp all over everything.

HoMM like:
- You can improve towns. But there are only a handful of improvements.
- You have heros. Those heroes can learn skills. They can equip items. Again, not overly complex or ambitious. Only 4 types.
- You run around the map exploring. You have random encounters that may or may not lead to random battles. You acquire items and some resources. You take over farms and mana mines.
- But... you don't accumulate armies. There aren't any units to buy. Yet. Maybe that's coming later. I'm only a few "Acts" into the campaign so far. So the armies are just made up of heroes.

XCOM like:
- You have action points.
- You spend them using skills.
- There is cover. But it doesn't feel as complex.

Probably more. But this is just a quick summary.

Oh. And there is some good humor in the story. That's a plus.

12/15-12/25?

Inflation is tough on everyone! Epic can only afford 11 days of Christmas this year. :p

Looks like 15 days, which I assume is normal

https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/epic- ... -holidays/
It looks like Epic Games Store is bringing back its end-of-the-year promotion back that it does every year to celebrate Christmas and the holidays. In other words, Epic Games Store users are about to get 15 free games in 15 days. More specifically, it looks like the promotion will begin this Thursday, December 15, and run until December 30, giving out at least one free game each day. And if this year's promotion is as good as previous years, users of the PC digital storefront are going to get several great games. And get them with no strings attached.

Are we naming names? And when do the new games get posted on Epic anyway? And will Epic even be able to afford to give away free games now that it is facing a half billion dollar fine?

Oh. That explains why I've heard that the next game is either 'Phoenix Wright' or a tower defence game.

11:00 AM Eastern

There are sites that name the games ahead of time, based on hints or leaks from epic. Example: AAA title for today is likely to be...
