These QAnon "leaders" have got to just be trolling people at this point, right? There's no way people can actually believe this stuff.

 Killer show.. The crackpot at work is telling me that the market is going to totally collapse in March because China is going to attack Japan. Russia is going to attack Ukraine and then energy prices are going to double. Then chaos. I'm not exactly sure where this theory is coming from?

Probably from the angle that Biden is soft and China and Russia are going to run roughshod and unchecked because of it. And the hope/desire for societal breakdown.

I find it comical that the same person is a Trump supporter. Anyone that thinks Trump would be hard on Russia has just completely gone off the reservation. I mean I do think Russia might invade the Ukraine, but that's just because Putin is a dick. And there isn't really much Biden can do to stop him.

I was in the supermarket yesterday evening, and saw a National Enquirer (of course!) front page headline referencing qanon. It's mainstream. :grund:

Well I wouldn't want to put money on the Russia Ukraine part, but the rest seriously? The specific March date makes me think there's some conspiracy theory going around. Not sure why March would be special.

Time
Jacob Chansley, the convicted Jan. 6 rioter who was dubbed the “QAnon Shaman” thanks to viral photographs of his outlandish getup, has been released from prison and transferred to a halfway house more than a year before he was initially set to be released.

Michael Protzman, leader of Dallas QAnon group, dies after crash in Minnesota
Michael Brian Protzman, the leader of a QAnon-centric group who brought hundreds of followers to Dallas to await the supposed resurrections of long-dead President John F. Kennedy and his son — tearing countless families apart in the process — died following a crash last month, according to authorities in Minnesota.

Protzman was 60. His death, which occurred June 30, was confirmed to The Dallas Morning News by officials in Olmsted County, about 100 miles south of Minneapolis.

According to a death report obtained by Vice News, Protzman died of blunt-force injuries after losing control of a dirt bike on June 23, one week before his death.

Originally from Washington State, Protzman convinced hundreds, possibly thousands, of people to uproot their lives and leave their families to come to Dallas in 2021 under the belief that Kennedy, who was assassinated in Dallas in 1963, and his son, who died in a plane crash in 1999, would reveal themselves to be alive, help usher in the reinstatement of Donald Trump as president, and commence a “storm” of military tribunals and executions of prominent Democrats and celebrities, who his followers baselessly believed were involved in the sexual abuse of children.

Those predictions did not come to pass.

Deep State pseudo-assassination, duh.

But of course he's not actually dead. He'll soon reappear as Secretary of State in the secret government that has actually been running things since still-President Trump pretended to step down in January 2021.

Seriously asking, is QAnon still a thing? I haven’t heard much about them in a while, and I was kind of hoping/thinking that they finally hit the point when enough of their screwball conspiracy predictions failed to come to pass that their followers had giving up.

I think QAnon as such has died down, but only because its championing of Christian Nationalism and its near-absolute rejection of science/expertise have gone mainstream on the Right. It's not necessary to believe that JFK Jr is alive to believe that Dr. Fauci invented COVID in a Chinese lab to target white people.

QAnon is only one of many way out groups of people on the right. It's not as popular as it once was but these folks just as often drop sources or move on to some other source of "hidden knowledge" as stick to one source. It isn't like these smooth brains woke up one day and realized how silly they are. For instance, you have Michael Cernovich here who is a loathsome right-wing gonzo "journalist". He has 1M followers yet he is writing something that is absolutely nutty exploiting the deep distrust of the media that exists out there. Disinformation is rampant nowadays.

I just watched that Maricopa County Board of Supervisors meeting, and I came away with one question: Who in their right mind would want to be on the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors? How could anyone voluntarily sign up to deal with that much crazy?

The problem is we have created a system where only someone in their wrong mind would sign up.

It used to be that in general only respected members of the community would sign up for such roles. And if 100 out of 1000 people voted liberal it wasn’t evidence of a massive conspiracy just of a bunch of commie socialists who needed to be identified and encouraged” to vote conservative for the good of the community.

I'm really surprised that (AFAIK) the Q crowd hasn't gone all-in for RFK junior.

Not only is he a blessed Kennedy, but he has been all too happy to embrace conspiracies around vaccines and everything else. The most natural thing in the world would be for Q-conspiracy media to embrace him as (at least) the obvious choice for Trump's VP.
