The final episode better be like 3 hours long. They've set up so much stuff, there's no way to pay off even half of it: midichlorian transfusions, dark troopers, the Darksabre, Ahsoka, Bo Katan, different Mandalorian factions, Grow-goo's signal from the top of Force Mountain...

Nitpicks about Friday's (12/11) episode:
Spoiler:
So you have this highly valuable substance that must be transported back to base through the badlands of 1950s TV Indians rubber-mask ruffians, but it's so unstable than every bump in the road creates a risk of setting it off. So why use big lumbering trucks on overland paths?

This is a universe where antigravity is cheap enough for Luke's "targeting remote" and powerful enough to float a Star Destroyer inside atmosphere. Why not take the Stuff straight up, fly it to the base, and come straight down? (I had the same problem with the train in Solo. Why stick to rails?)

If somehow speed itself (rather than shock) is the issue, why not at least arm or escort the lumbering transports? There seemed to be no shortage of stormtroopers at the base.

At the very least, since the bad guys' method seemed limited to attaching thermal detonators to the Stuff itself, why not LOCK THE TRUNK?

I think you might be confused. Star Wars logic has always been first and foremost about plot constraints. Logic is a distant concern far down the priority list.

Hover skiffs! Thermal detonator! Spears....?

It's almost like the pirates credit at ACME petered out at the end of their order.

Perhaps they would earn more if they tried to *steal* stuff rather than blow it up?

Well, it seems important to their tactics that they hop aboard, pry open the trunk, and apply the bomb directly. Presumably this means a thermal detonator (or an RPG) can't penetrate Trunkonium.

It's a season finale, not a series finale (using the non-UK meaning of those words). They certainly WON'T pay off most of it (or maybe even ANY of it). Enjoy the wait for Xmas 2021!

More great guest stars. I could watch Richard Brake read Horton Hears a Who and still get creeped out. He’s so damn good at being slimy and menacing.

Not sure where the show goes from here. But can't wait to find out. I knew the main plot couldn't last forever.

Well, don't get too excited. The big thing that happened was the reappearance of Jar Jar Binks.

GREAT episode!

SO many terrific little touches. Just a few I recall after one viewing:
Spoiler:
I never noticed that Cara Dune's teardrop tattoo is actually a Rebellion symbol
Beskar proves its value
"How many life forms?" "None"
My kid believes Luke tearing through the Dark Troopers is almost a move-for-move remake of Vader's final scene in Rogue One.
Taking off the helmet (though they should have reserved it for this to be the first time)
Moff Gideon attempting to off himself, and then *whack*
OMG that post-credits bit! Do not skip it

Man, I didn't love it as much as you all, though I did enjoy it.
Spoiler:
Partially because the Star Wars Physics got to me for some reason this ep. Maybe because I'm also watching Expanse right now. Fett EMPs the enemy ship, so it... stops? In normal space? Ok.

And partially because a big piece of what I enjoyed about Mandalorian is that it's not our normal mainline Star Wars. This season we got Boba Fett as a major character, and Luke Fuckin' Skywalker in the finale. I mean, it was all good stuff. I'm hoping next season is more able to stand on its own without mainline crutches, though.

(Seriously, do NOT read this if you haven't watched the finale)
Spoiler:
I spent most of the build-up to that not being willing to believe it.

"Just one X-wing?" Oh, cute call back. Is that their official mode of transport now?

Green. Huh. They wouldn't, would they?

Ion cannons have been a thing in Star Wars since TESB, though. Sure, it's not Newtonian, but it's long-established canon.

Loved it. However, the opening scene made me laugh out loud when the imperial pilot shot his copilot. It answered an age old question about how being shot with a blaster must feel. And that answer is apparently “a lot like taking a really cold shower”.

I almost wish that were the end of the show because it would be a damn near perfect ending.

Where does it go now?
Spoiler:
With the initial story pretty much wrapped up, what happens next?

We pretty much know that Grogu is gone because there's no way they're playing the Skywalker card again.

- Do we see the results of Moff Gideon's midichlorian research?

- Does Din Djarin end up an adversary of Bo Katan, with both fighting to rebuild Mandalor for different reasons?

Maybe moving beyond Grogu allows them to go back to a story well outside the movies now that they've pulled off pretty much the ultimate fan-service.
I have no idea what's going to happen, but I have faith that it will continue to be something amazing.

I applaud their

ending the baby yoda storyline
A lesser show would have ridden that popular character to the bank and back again until they couldn’t withdraw anymore. They told a great tale and ended it in a poignant and fulfilling manner. I have confidence they’ll make seasons 3 and further equally as good.

Especially now that we know Jar Jar Binks is back, baby!

The post-credit scene ended with a new title card. Does that point to a whole new series or (as I assume) the name of the next chapter in The Mandalorian?

If the latter, it's not hard to see how it could expand into new story opportunities while still leaving room to settle the Bo-Katan plot.
