It's nice to know that with all the issues going on, this is important enough to be something that's planned and discussed in White House meetings.

How much planning do you think it takes? Maybe it's just part of Executive time.

I think it’s absolutely nuts that he’s planning to run again in 2024.

I like Esquire's take:
"Barry, I've got an idea. I'm gonna wear The Suit," Biden half-whispers, giggling a little.

"Joe, I tell you, you should wear The Suit," Obama responds with a full-throated laugh.

"Not the The Suit, of course. You had to burn that one, right?"

"Sure did!"

"I'll find another tan suit. I'll just wear it. Won't give 'em any warning. I can't wait to see their faces. Oh, and, uh, happy birthday."

Click.
Tansuitgate is so meta.

So...a bunch of news outlets publish stupid articles about it under the guise of news, because...ratings, and general populace is dumb as fuck and will read anything that has more pictures than numbers. But in your mind it somehow translates into "discussion in White House meetings"? The mental acrobatics required to arrive at that conclusion must be Olympic-worthy.

What's more, he spent all that time gathering news articles that simply stated Biden wore a tan suit and that it might have been a troll on his part. Yet none of those state that it was
planned and discussed in White House meetings.

I respond and HOLY SHIT!!!!!!! Out of the woodwork they come!!!!!!
Lol........so predictable......

And honestly, I had no idea what TAN SUIT was even referring to.
I looked it up and thought that was the stupidest thing to be bringing up.
So I commented on it.
That's all there was to it.

Right and there was more to the reference, it was also an example of how the right is racist. I'll make this point relatable. You know how you complain about unfair treatment here? There is a comparison to Obama here. Instead of people pointing out how off the wall or hyperbolic your posts appear, instead think about all the reactions to Obama. He had the Republicans foaming at the mouth for absolutely bonkers reasons. One of the most infamous is the tan suit. The right had a full meltdown for *A WEEK* about the color of the man's suit. Never mind that people showed pictures of many politicians including McConnell wearing tan suits. They endlessly talked about how un-Presidential he was. Why? I'll leave that as an exercise in common sense but I am pretty sure it wasn't about a tan suit. So when people comment on the tan suit, they are calling back to the time the right had a full racist meltdown and the expectation that it will be conspicuously absent now. In that frame, whether Biden was trolling or not doesn't matter much because we have actual problems - like persistent systemic racism - to actually worry about.

I’d say if you think Biden is having extended staff meetings over the color of his suits, you may want to rethink your definition of delusional.

I know it's popular to beat up on Biden lately, but this is kind of impressive

NEW: Biden has convinced 2 of the country's biggest insurers, @Allstate and @USAA, to cover living expenses for those who evacuated voluntarily in Louisiana during Hurricane Ida (in addition to those who were required to evacuate).

Biden asked them to “do the right thing.”

The Biden Presidency Thread

Post by Zarathud »

Holy crap. Got some info on the House Ways and Means tax bill and it is going to be massive. $2.9 trillion of tax increases, and $.6 trillion of assumed additional collections from additional enforcement and economic recovery. It’s big, even just reading the short summary.

It’s targeted towards the wealthy and it’s no wonder Sen. Manchin was calling for a pause.

There are some tax provisions that will be painful for new trust planning, and we’ll see what the insurance industry has to say about it.

There is a lot of time left but they need to get game quick. The VA gubernatorial election may indicate some. VA should be safe-ish for a Democratic candidate. It does appear at least from what we can see that Biden's woes are bleeding into that race though. If the polls still look this bad end of month and people turn out on the Democratic side...that's a good sign.

No blame for Biden? Come on.

I can't say much because I was kinda hoping Harris would win the nomination, and from what I have seen so far (in her role as VP of course), I am glad she didn't. I don't know that anybody on the ticket would have been better than Biden, but he was not even one of my first few choices.

I appreciate the obvious challenges of inheriting a post-Trump WH (and government, really), so I don't discount that. Not to even mention the whole "rigged election" bullshit that JUST. WON'T. DIE.

Who do we like in 2024? :D
