Apparently we have this mess in large part because the Giants owner got twisted in a bunch about taunting. Guessing they'll return it to normal within a season or two.
And the NFL has now fined Marsh. Fun times.

Aaaand after Cam Newton’s first play in as QB, he shows his ass and screams “I’m BAAAAACK!!” all over the field and into the camera.

And of course gets hit with a 15 yard penalty for doing so.
🙄 Didn’t take long for me to remember why I was never much of a fan of his.

Just never liked the showboating (in any player, really, not just him).

If a little showboating means I get to the watch games like that again I’ll take the showboating.

That’s kinda my point. Excessive LOOK AT ME IM THA GREATEST in a team sport especially is not remotely necessary for a great game.

Not necessary perhaps, but I watch every Panthers game. They're pretty painful most of the time, and this was the first time one has actually been really fun to watch since he left. The energy is electric. Would it be better without the showboating? Sure, but it's evidently part of the package, and for me, the end result is a huge net positive.

Also, if you haven't, check out the Panthers on All or Nothing the season they were followed. I gained a lot of appreciation for Cam after watching that. He's loud, but he's definitely someone people naturally follow and sets the tone for everyone around him.

I initially wrote ‘can’t argue with that’ but thinking about it further I’m not sure that’s accurate.

I’d like to see a graph with an overlay of ‘perceived energy level’ when Cam is QB and when McCaffery is healthy and playing.

We had a LOT of low energy, very un-fun games with Cam as QB before he got cut in 2019 if you remember.

I absolutely think his return probably gave the whole team a boost yesterday though. I suspect morale was a bit low with the mediocre QB’ing they played under for the last …??

I will watch that show, though. I almost always welcome opportunities to be proven wrong!

As long as Cooper Kupp wasn't getting any fantasy points, the Rams can do what they want.

Well, that last Kupp catch just put me in the L for my non-OO team. Missing that Robert Woods was out didn't help, either.

I finally get a decent performance from Mahomes (52 points), but everyone but Kelce (and average...for him, of 19 points) decided to take the week off and I still lost. My team simply has too many unreliable players capable of putting up 20+ one week, and bupkis the next.

<sigh> The Bears couldn't stop a QB who only threw 16 passes in the NFL today during the final minute, giving up a winning touchdown with 22 seconds remaining after taking the lead with under 2 minutes.

The biggest question at this point is whether Matt Nagy will still have a job by Xmas, or if his kids will have to suffer lumps of coal in their stockings.

And Mack is dead, that's not gonna help one bit.

It's unclear whether Fields is dead, maimed, or slightly broken. Given the Bears season thus far, I'd bet on the former. A potentially busted spleen doesn't sound like something to shrug off. At least we play the Lions this week. And Dalton did not suck during the second half today.

Well, the Lions chances would seem to have improved with all of the Bear's injuries. Roquan Smith is having a monster season though, and if there's any team that can be beat by just one guy, it's the Lions.

I thought the Chargers' season was over when they failed on that late fourth down conversion. If they had faked the hand off to Ekeler, Herbert could have walked around the edge for 1/2 a yard. But the Steelers could not run out the clock and gifted Herbert with a blown coverage.

The Chargers are the Costanzas of the NFL - they lose where they should win and win where they should lose.

Before this weekend, the top 5 were Vrabel, Kingsbury, McCarthy, Staley, Belichick - so I'm guessing he's third at best.

I also don't want to get too far ahead in terms of touting the Patriots greatness. In the past month they've mostly beaten ~ .500 level teams (plus the Jets). The Titans next Sunday will be a good test, plus they have the Bills twice.

They're in good shape (especially since the other games aren't against great teams), but I don't want to get ahead of myself on them too much.

If the Chargers have to fly to Foxboro (or whatever the f they call it now) for the playoffs, they might as well just make it a stopover on a flight to Hawaii.
