Fantasy Football '21
It's that time of year again... This will now be the 14th year for Fantasy Football Masters! Kupp Check took home the trophy last year.
We've eliminated fractional points, eased up on the defense penalties, and eliminated completions, while going back to divisions as well. We'll wait for closer to the season to see if we'll keep the same COVID protocols as last year; I suspect we will.
Yahoo auto-renews, so that means it's naednek, Rip, dedewhale, Isgrimnur, Kupp, Baroquen, RMC, Sectoid, and the Rocket City Lasers coming back. If you're not playing this year, shoot me a PM. If you would like to join the league, we have room for two -- so shoot me a PM as well.

R.C. Lasers are good to go with the changes.

I was just thinking I never collected on my 3rd place finish from last year. I wonder if i can apply it to the fees this year.
Now that we're looking at yet another Covid surge, I wonder if our league will offer free transactions like it did last year.

Re: Fantasy Football '21
Just to add another level of complexity to the fantasy football game, the NFL announced that outbreaks of non-vaccinated players will cause teams to forfeit games as they won't be rescheduled. So that means potentially losing a ton of production from two full teams' offense starters in the event of an outbreak/forfeit!

That sounds potentially sucky to me. I might be pressing our Commish to relax the transaction fees again this year. Hell, inflated rosters might be in order...

Re: Fantasy Football '21
So in my league, the same rules as last year apply this year -- no transaction fees durning the season. I took advantage of this and finished in 3rd place (profit!) last year, in spite of my top QB (Prescott) going down week 2 and my top running back (Elliot) sucking afterward.
This year I drafted 8th. I've had success in this position before. Here's what I wound up with:
*QB Patrick Mahomes
QB Kirk Cousins
*RB Mike Davis
*RB Myles Gaskin
RB Melvin Gordon
RB Nyheim Hines
*WR Julio Jones
*WR Adam Thielen
*WR Courtland Sutton
WR Corey Davis
WR Cole Beasley
*TE Travis Kelce
TE Jared Cook
*K Cairo Santos
K Chris Boswell
*DST Pittsburgh
DST Giants
*=default starter

I'm going to lose my other league by less than a point. All because I didn't trust in the return of Cordarrelle Patterson.

Re: Fantasy Football '21
So my team has been floundering spectacularly all year, Mahomes isn't the same, meaning Kelce isn't the same. Pittsburgh DST went from a top 3 to a bottom 3, and about the only other reliable person on my team has been Thielen (and he's been better in the past, too). I've lost a lot of close games, and lost some blowouts. But lost seems to be the theme this year. It's not been fun, and for the most part, there's been nothing in the FA pool worth grabbing.

Tonight's game will decide if I bench the Buffalo D before Monday night. Everyone else will be in the books after tonight, and It's looking like Andy's Samurai Saints won't have enough to leave it in doubt after tonight.

Let's see. For my other league, I need ...
Josh Allen to score 120 points.

Re: Fantasy Football '21
I hope so but I doubt it. If Evans does not play I really have no good backup and the only way I can replace Evans under "the rules" is to drop Evans unless I can get another injury to pop up on someone else that is expendable.

I’ll finish 4th in the OO league, but I’m winning one of my money leagues thanks to the monster performance from Chase today. I’m up by 40 with Najee Harris left, and my opponent is done.

Re: Fantasy Football '21
If Chubb can get me 8 pts I'll win the OO league and I also won the money league I run with Devantes performance tonight. I'm up one pt and l have Najee tomorrow. So barring Najee fumbling and getting hurt on the first play i should win. i could just bench Najee and guarantee a victory but that seems kind of cheap.

The only issue would be a stat correction. Or if your league rules prevent you from starting an empty spot. But otherwise it’s not a terrible strategy.Lassr wrote:If Chubb can get me 8 pts I'll win the OO league and I also won the money league I run with Devantes performance tonight. Probably going to fall short because for some reason the Browns decided not to run Chubb against the weak Steelers run D...typical Browns no wonder they lose.

Damn Browns. Congrats RMC.
Didn't sit Najee, he racked up some points for me to win easily in the other league. $150 going toward a pair of Hokas this week.

Re: Fantasy Football '21
I was in three leagues this year. In my biggest money one, I ended the regular season in first place but regular season money only goes to the top point scorer, not the person with the best record. I ended up losing in the 3rd place playoff match-up, so got no money even though my team had the best record in the league.
In my other two leagues, I made the championship game. In one as the 3rd seed and in the other as the 7th (!!!) seed. I lost in the championship game in both, as the 7th seed in a blow out and as the 3rd seed by 0.8 points. At least I got 2nd place money in both those leagues.
