After the first game of the season, I told a former colleague in the Bay area that The Bears were expected to be historically bad...yet they beat her 49'ers.

Bears set records in consecutive losses (10) and season losses (14). This is historic, as the Bears are in their 103'rd season. The historically bad prediction was unfortunately very correct.

Obviously it wasn't the Lions year to make it to the big time, but what a season for them, and great to see them finish it out with a good win.

My results for week 18:

Chiefs at Raiders -- win
Titans at Jaguars -- win
Ravens at Bengals -- win
Jets at Dolphins -- win
Browns at Steelers -- win
Vikings at Bears -- win
Bucs at Falcons -- win
Pats at Bills -- win
Panthers at Saints -- lose
Texans at Colts -- lose
Rams at Seahawks -- win
Cardinals at 49ers -- win
Giants at Eagles -- win
Cowboys at Commanders -- lose
Chargers at Broncos -- win
Lions at Packers -- lose (just so awesome)

This week: 12-4
Cumulative: 119 - 57 (started week 7, with Jaymann at 48-45 on week 6)

My 'Jaymann Adjusted' cumulative would be: 167 - 102 (where in I just add his week 6 numbers to my own), but I like to think I would have done better than 48-45 in the first 6 weeks (although those are harder to predict, so I can't pretend I would have)...
More specifically, I regret being silly about the Bears picks when I started this, where I would pick them for 'loyalty' when I actually expected them to lose. That's where I robbed myself of about 6 wins and instead handed myself 6 losses.

So, my personal congrats to Jaymann  , as I was trying to outperform you - and didn't.

In Quay Walker's NFL carrier - he averages being ejected for shoving opponent coaches or trainers twice a year.

Nice that he's still doing us favors. The Bears ought to trade it for 2 first round picks, though. While they need receivers, word is the draft is spectacularly shitty in receivers (as is the free agent market). They need to replace the defensive stars they gave away for magic beans.

The internet is calling it his best victory for The Bears (and keep in mind, he took them to the Superbowl).

Today's blow-up is the hint The Bears will draft the midget from Alabama with their #1 pick and kick Justin Fields to the curb. That seems non-sensical to me, but...The Bears! Honestly, their best move would be to trade the #1 pick to someone who could offer a lot more high draft picks, AND trade Fields for the same. They need to create a solid rest of the team before bringing in a ringer QB. Their OL will just get Fields killed (they already did), and the top running QBs in NFL history all have one thing in common -- no championships.

Also, historically QBs were not as protected as they are today.

Jon Steven Young was the winner of the first and only "Superbowl of Snake Wrangling" held in Oslo, Norway in 1981. After wrangling sleek, black snakes chosen because, in the words of the promoter, "they looked cool," the unfortunate Mr. Young succumbed to 47 bites from the deadly Black Mamba, expiring on the medal stand after convolutions the likes that have never been seen before." Also apparently this is the first time in NFL history that a team won a playoff game despite losing the turnover battle by 5 or more. That alone is crazy.

Lawrence showed remarkable character to come back from tossing 4 interceptions and putting them in that position. Talk about a great "You fucked up, royally. What are ya gonna do, give up? I mean it's pretty much over - you may as well, right?" lesson. Flaws and all, I'm impressed. The whole team gets credit for that.

I was going to ask whether anyone had done a wellness check in Los Angeles after that game. But then I remembered that no one in LA cares about the Chargers. Do the Chargers have any fans left after their move to LA?

Not from LA or SD but a long time Chargers fan. I don't hate them and will root for them but after the move to LA and the Rivers leaving I lost interest (and have honestly lost some interest in football in general). I root for the Vikings and KC now due to wife and family are Vikings fan and I have Mahommes, Kelce, and Hill in a dynasty league (and have family in Missouri). I'm not getting rid of my Seau, Tomlinson, or Rivers jerseys, though.

I couldn’t stand Tony Romo as a player, but he is an absolutely stellar color analyst. He and Nantz make a great combo.

Much better than the Al Michaels/Tony Dungee snoozefest last night.
