As the Washington Commanders concluded Day 2 of their training camp practices, head coach Ron Rivera announced to the media in attendance that wide receiver turned tight end Antonio Gandy-Golden is retiring from the NFL.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

The New York Giants have seen a weird trending development in their training camp over the last few days.

Zach Fulton announced his retirement from the NFL today, becoming the third player from the Giants to do so in the last four days. Todd Davis, a former linebacker, retired from the league on August 3, and Joe Looney, an offensive lineman, did the same on August 4.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

What a screw up by the Panthers T.J. Moore! After the catch of the year he removes his helmet for a penalty and they miss the winning extra point.

Leave it to the Bears to score 29 and get blown out.

Seriously.

I'm still thrilled with Fields.

I had some horrible picks this week (Bears don't count).

Yeah, while I don't blame the first miss on the kicker since he was backed up 15 yards because of the penalty, I DO blame him for missing the second one that would have won the OT for us.

As for the TD and resulting penalty, I'm not sure I've seen a player go from hero to goat that quickly...it took him about 5m to realize what he did and he got quiet REAL quick. From high fives to head in hands.

Worst loss I've seen in a while for a team I follow. Ugh. Literally felt a little nauseous after that one.

Edit: Also, YOU'RE WELCOME 49'ers fans! :D (McCaffrey)

Niners are 8-0 against the rams in the regular season since 2018. We pretty much call it Levi South as more niner fans show up to watch the game. Christian McCafferey just showed the world how good the trade was. Statement game and hopefully something to build off.

Niners have a bye to get healthy, and most of their starters come back.

I did not expect to win that game due to our dominance having been keyed by the DL drubbing their OL, and our DL has been bad without the starters, and we won more because the Rams really aren't good this year (and because McCaffrey is still healthy, Niners will need him and the rest of the team to stay that way - the bye is coming at a great time).

If the Niners can make the playoffs and are healthy, they could get to the Super Bowl again. Big if tho.

Bears have traded Roquan Smith to the Ravens for some draft picks (a 2 and 5, I think). Combined with trading Robert Quinn last week, that's the Bears two best veteran defenders from a defense that was already having trouble slowing down the run. We're going to see some ugly Bears scores from here on out I suspect.

In a Week 7 game, the Kansas City Chiefs’ defensive linemen made a coordinated leg shift and duped a 49ers offensive lineman into a false start on a field-goal attempt.
...
CBS Sports analyst Tony Romo said the penalty was for trying to make the offensive linemen jump. And the Eagles’ sideline reporter agreed, apparently calling it a “non-football” move that wasn’t allowed.

The Bears are going to get annihilated. Trading Roquan Smith reduces their already poor defense by 50%. Tua and co will eat them up.

I have Tua and Waddle on my FF team, and both are projected to have massive games. The Bears are playing for a higher draft pick.

What a wild finish to the Chargers game!

1. A seemingly winning Chargers TD is called back.

2. Chargers pass on 4th and 4 and make it.

3. Chargers drive to the 20 for a winning field goal.

4. Eckler fumbles the game away on a set up play only to have the Falcons fumble it back (with no contact) on a winning fumble return.

5. Chargers drive back to the 20 and kick winning FG as time expires.

OMG that Bears game.

This should go down as the season's worst missed foul there at the end of the game. It was text-book Passing Interference. He grabbed him around the waist and pulled him down. Unbelievable.

Anyhow. Damn I love Justin Fields so much.

Note to Rams:

You are better off going all out to get one (!) first down than to give a 48 year old Brady the ball with a minute left and you have only a 4 point lead.

While PI could certainly have been called there, I've seen enough of Claypool to know that that's just how he plays football. He never fights for the ball. Even with the defender around his hips, both of his arms were free, and the ball hit him in the hands.

He's just a soft football player. Which is odd because he looks like a beast.

Colts fire Frank Reich. They replace him with former center and ESPN analyst Jeff Saturday on an interim basis. I guess they didn't have any good coaching candidates on their staff. Oh, wait:

Spoiler:
The Colts bypass two former NFL head coaches already on staff — Gus Bradley, John Fox — and a rising head-coaching candidate in Bubba Ventrone, to name former center Jeff Saturday the interim coach.

That is a real sentence.

My main memory of Frank Reich was when the Bills played the Oilers in the playoffs. The Bills were getting boat raced at half time, so I turned it off and missed the greatest comeback in NFL history.

John Fox is no prize pig, as any Bears fan can attest to. Saturday is certainly a local favorite though...not sure what his coaching creds are, but he was a good player.
