RIP Rachel Nagy of The Detroit Cobras

Post by Z-Corn »

Very bummed to read this morning of the death of Rachel Nagy from The Detroit Cobras.

She had a heart of gold and sang like an angel but she would curse you out and punch you in the face at the drop of a hat. She had her troubles but was a wonderful person to have as a friend. We tried to see them every opportunity we had.

There is no cause of death mentioned.

Here's a great live performance from The Magic Stick in 2005. I was at this show...

I'll go out on a limb and suggest that someone I never heard of who was likely to punch me in the face doesn't deserve a dedicated thread for dropping dead. We have far more significant folks in the general dead celeb thread.

Which is really what you should be complaining about.

This complaint keeps surfacing, but it's stupid. Exactly whom or what do we elect as arbiter of who was important enough to have their own RIP thread?

The point is that she was important to Z-Corn. We honour each other in our interactions here, not the deceased directly.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

I started the general rip thread due to complaints of too many separate rip threads. Now they want more separate ones for importance. And in here its been brought up for less separate.

I dont get you guys. :?

I would like my own thread when I die. I can even start it, if it would help.

There is no "you guys". Different people have different opinions and not everybody thinks in lockstep. It's easier to mention "I don't like this" than it is to "+1" something, so complaints are more common on postings.

Don't try to think of forums as some monolithic single-minded entity. That's the secret to getting along with people (not just on web forums).

I worked with a waitress who was in a band and the work crew would go out to support her often . Caught the Detroit Cobras a few times that way when they played together in the very early days. No idea who was who (and memories of those nights are always a bit hazy) but very good chance I had beers with Rachel Nagy at some of those shows. They always killed it.

Them and you are synonymous in this instance.

But this thread is already dangerously way off course.
