How to get Trend Micro Apex One to stop blocking Serious Sam 4
We have one laptop that is powerful enough to run Serious Sam 4 but is still running Trend Micro Apex One which was required by my son's college. We've confirmed that it is stopping Serious Sam 4 from launching but don't know how to add an exclusion, which just seems to keep it from scanning that directory or file, not actually tell it to ignore the game when it runs. We should probably just put a different antivirus on that laptop, but assuming I don't want to do that...help?

It's almost as if people are the problem.

Yeah, I have a feeling the client installed by his college doesn't have full console control because that appears to be for businesses. That may mean I can't do anything about it.

Is it still used for said college? Security can be an inconvenience and that's just something you have to accept, but when it prevents basic utility, it's a problem.

He's moved from that college to med school so I suppose he could see if the new school offers another program. It seemed a waste to buy personal end-user antivirus while he is at an institution with student licenses.

It is 2022. You get a great built-in antivirus in Windows 10/11.

+1. That's where I was going with that leading question. Uninstall it. Unless it's hiding corporate secrets or being used to plan heists, Windows built-in AV is more than enough, and doesn't get in the way of gaming.Victoria Raverna wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 9:11 am It is 2022. Re: How to get Trend Micro Apex One to stop blocking Serious Sam 4
I have just gotten to the point where I almost trust that. I prefer for my wife's laptop to have Trend Micro Antivirus on it so she gets a message if she goes to a malicious website, plugs in her mom's flash drive, etc. My son is a bit less likely to stumble into malicious traffic so I may resign myself to not replacing the third-party antivirus when he gives up and uninstalls it.
