NFL 2022 Preseason

Post by Jaymann »

Russell Wilson to the Broncos. :? Guess they made this move after Aarogant Rodgers re-signed with the Packers. Just what we need, another high level QB in the AFC West.

Carson Wentz to the Washington WF, er, Commanders.

LOL, They credited Wentz as a "Super Bowl winner" for a game in which he did not play. Though admittedly he helped Philly get there.

Certainly himself. And anyone who wants to call him a SB winner.

I'm an Iggles fan, and while I'm glad that he's not on the team anymore (and amused that he is back in our division), I agree that the Iggles never get into the SB without the season he had. He definitely earned that ring, even if he wasn't in the playoff games.

Let the Deshaun Watson sweepstakes begin. The grand jury declined to indict, so he will not face criminal charges.

What a weird situation that is. While I'd like to say where there's smoke, there's fire, grand juries will indict anybody if the DA asks them to.

I am shocked that the Prosecutor risked this outcome. If there was enough to clearly indict, why risk commoners no billing the indictment because he’s famous?

My guess is because the Harris County DA didn't want the accountability of saying "there's not enough evidence." But I'm shocked too.

Yeah, that's my guess - that the DA essentially went to a grand jury and said "look there's some evidence here for and against, not sure it's enough, but hey if you guys want to go ahead and indict him" expecting this result, so that they can say "hey, it's not up to us, it's up to those anonymous commoners".

I don't know how much coverage this gets outside of Houston, and I don't think it's been talked about a lot here.

The accusers' lawyer public presentation has been super sketchy. While I admit bias, the only thing that give significant credibility to his claims are the sheer number of accusations along with the fact of who needs 23 masseuses? But being creepy or asking creepy things isn't criminal.

It's interesting that of 23 accusers, only 9 charges were filed and officially it was "indecent assault" which is the following:
INDECENT ASSAULT. (a) A person commits an offense if, without the other person's consent and with the intent to arouse or gratify the sexual desire of any person, the person:

(1) touches the anus, breast, or any part of the genitals of another person;

(2) touches another person with the anus, breast, or any part of the genitals of any person;

(3) exposes or attempts to expose another person's genitals, pubic area, anus, buttocks, or female areola; or

(4) causes another person to contact the blood, seminal fluid, vaginal fluid, saliva, urine, or feces of any person.

(b) An offense under this section is a Class A misdemeanor.

(c) If conduct that constitutes an offense under this section also constitutes an offense under another law, the actor may be prosecuted under this section, the other law, or both.
This clears the way for a settlement, and we'll never know what happened.

Doesn't matter. Unless the Bears were completely irrational when they traded 4 draft picks to move up one spot to pick Trubisky in the draft, there must be some rule that says you have to give up draft picks to get Trubisky.

Chargers Sign Pro Bowl Free Agent CB J.C. Jackson from Patriots, Continue Their All-In Approach. They were one defensive stop from reaching the playoffs last year. Hopefully this puts them over the top.

So despite glaring needs at OL and pash rushing, the Ravens go out and pick up safety Marcus Williams. The ESPN article I read makes good points that the team gave up boatloads of passing yards, and created very few turnovers. So I get that this can help the team out. But they don't have much cap space so I don't know how they're going to fill the team needs now. (They did sign a OT late last night too).

The team does have 10 draft picks in 6 rounds so maybe they're banking on that? But the draft is so hit or miss. And they still have to resolve the Lamar contract situation. (And I think the Earl Thomas grievance still looms over their cap space too?) Not sure how well this is all going to work out.

Chargers continue to shore up their defense by signing DL Sebastian Joseph-Day from the Rams. Methinks they are taking advantage while Justin Herbert is still on a rookie contract.

a few years ago I wanted Rodgers to win one more super bowl, now all I can do is laugh and enjoy the karma. Always heard he was an ass, it's really shown the past few years, so yea, LOL, ABCDEFU Rodgers.

Reportedly Rodgers new Adams didn't want to be there and still decided to stay in GB. It says a lot that Adams reportedly could have gotten the same money from GB and still chose Vegas.
