Doesn't the CBA require that all contracts be made public?

After all the drama, Deshaun Watson only gets a 6 game suspension.

Only if the NFL doesn't appeal. Who does the appeal go to? Commissioner Goodell or someone he designates. Considering the NFl's reported last settlement offer was 12 games and a hefty fine, I'd be surprised if the final punishment was much less than that.

Apparently you can gamble for $1500 and get suspended for a full season, but sexually assault 26 women gets you 6 games.

I've been hearing a lot from Brad Holmes recently. I think he's been winning the Interview and I may actually watch some Lions games this year and watch what they are trying to do wit the team. It feels like we're resetting to the Schwartz era as the giving up what little the franchise had to the Pats is all they did post Caldwell but I think Holmes/Campbell have more self awareness than did even Mayhew/Caldwell. Given time, they might do something. I won't mind watching a bad team if they're working toward something.

I don't know, I think this strategy just needs more time.

You need a wins per season, otherwise the Browns outpace the the Cowboys and the Patriots.

Well, to be fair, everyone was giving everyone a chance to play - so it's not going to be very indicative of how we will be playing later.

But it was still nice to see a win.

Bears looked good again (less so at the very end of the game).
But still, it’s nice to watch the Bears win and perform well even when it’s essentially meaningless.

Of course, Seattle is in a really poor position right now, still trying to find their new starter QB and one of their main contenders being out with COVID. So, in retrospect, it’s hard to say where the Bears were good vs where the Seahawks were less-than-good.

Frankly, I’m just excited to watch the Bears now with this new coach and GM (and the new defensive coordinator also looks to have a done well leading up to these games).

The Bears and Seattle both have one thing in common though -- both are expected to finish at the bottom of their divisions this year (which I find rather hard to believe in the Bear's case...their draft, as is was, was rated high, they seem to have made some good moves. And Detroit is in the division...)

Dazz Newsome has been cut.
23 years old.

I don't know how these calls are made - but if the WR hungry bears don't want to keep him, I guess that means that in two pre-season games, 27 receiving yards and a touchdown do not make the cut.

NBC Sports
After the first two weeks of camp, Newsome appeared firmly in the running to earn the sixth and final receiver spot on the Bears' roster. But the return of Tajae Sharpe from the NFI list and Newsome's misadventures on special teams in the first two preseason games put him behind the eight ball. A big drop on a deep from Trevor Siemian during Sunday's practice likely was the final straw.

With Darnell Mooney, Equanimeous St. Brown, Velus Jones Jr., Byron Pringle, Sharpe, Dante Pettis, and N'Keal Harry in the picture, Newsome's path to a roster spot was blocked at both receiver and returner. Jones and Pettis both are better options than Newsome at punt returner, which was the North Carolina product's best shot to make the roster.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

Ouch. Mike Martz (Jay Cutler's offensive coordinator) really doesn't like the Bears.

The podcasts I listen to concur with Martz. The Ringer's Steven Ruiz went so far as to say he thinks the new GM is trying to flush him out of the system because he's given him so little help (bad o-line, bad WRs).

I don't follow Chicago teams, just listen to podcasts - so feel free to have hope. Analysts can be wrong. But enough people are coming to the same conclusion so I wouldn't be thinking playoffs or anything.

Seahawks don't play against the Broncos that often, every 4 years. Its that time again. So first game of the season will be Monday night football pitting Seattle against its former quarterback. Lot of folks know that Wilson is a good quarterback , meaning, he has an accurate arm, is hard to tackle, and doesn't make many mistakes. But the criticism for him is that he is like a football robot. He lacks creativity and imagination. He's been doing the exact same thing for 8 years, and all the opponents know it, which is the major factor for his lack of success.

When you stick to the plan, it doesn't work if the other folks know your plan. He is at his best when the plan falls apart and he is scrambling, but thats no way to consistently win games. So the big question is, Will the Broncos teach him any new tricks

The main factor in the Seahawks awful recent years has been a poor offensive line and zero running game, not Russell Wilson.

Tho his contract has been a factor in all that.
